Xenia Community Schools is committed to the health and well-being of every student, and our goal is to provide a safe and healthy environment for our school community. The district has two full-time nurses and eight clinic aides to ensure that students receive minor treatment for any simple concerns, as well as provide maintenance care for any chronic conditions. Our staff members manage health screenings and oversee your child's medical records.

When to stay home...
As part of our goal to create a safe environment, we ask parents and families to help us maximize the time that students are healthy and ready to learn together! Children should stay home if they are experiencing a fever of 99.4 (if taken by forehead; 100.4 if taken by mouth), vomiting (within the past 24 hours), diarrhea (within the past 24 hours), experience a body rash with itching or fever, eye infection, head lice, or have been to the hospital.

When to return to school...
Students may generally return when they have been fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medication for 24 hours, and no vomiting or diarrhea (for 24 hours). Students with other issues such as rash, eye infection, or a hospital/ER visit should be evaluated and cleared to return by a doctor. Students with head lice must be treated and approved to return by clinic staff.

The district continues to follow the direction of Greene County Public Health and the CDC. Masks remain optional for those who do not exhibit symptoms of COVID or have been in direct contact with a confirmed case. As always, families should notify their school if their student or a family member (in the household) exhibits symptoms of COVID.

With certain exceptions per XCS Board policy 5320, every student must meet Ohio's Immunizations for School Attendance guidelines:

If you wish to apply for an exception, families should submit a State of Ohio Legal Immunization Exemption form annually for each student.

In addition, while most forms for the district are collected through Final Forms, there are a few clinic authorization forms that must be completed and submitted each year, if needed:

If you have questions about any of these forms or clinic procedures, please reach out to your school clinic staff member through the main office.
