HOSA Students Find Success at State Competition

The Biomedical Science Program at Xenia High School is thriving this year, thanks in part to the support of Kettering Health Network! As part of this partnership, KHN has provided guest speakers, as well as critical job shadowing opportunities for students. KHN also donated funds to the Xenia HOSA Chapter to support student participation in the program this year, while Kettering Health College supported the production of a student-designed team shirt.

With nearly 70 total student members, HOSA has had an incredibly busy year, hosting three successful blood drives and competing in regional and state-wide events.

At the recent state competition on April 10-11,  four students placed in the top ten and two qualified to participate at the national event in Houston this spring:

  • Laylah Jordan — Top 10 for Family Medicine Physician
  • Houda Loukssi — Placed 2nd in Prepared Speaking
  • Morgann Trimble — Top 10 for Job Seeking Skills
  • Ava Wellman — Placed 3rd in Medical Assisting
In addition, Houda was elected to the 2024–2025 State Executive Board by all of Ohio’s voting delegates at the state event. As part of her duties in this role, she will be leading the State of Ohio HOSA chapters next year in regional and state events. Additionally, she will participate in a week-long leadership conference in Washington D.C., where she will have the opportunity to meet lawmakers and representatives.
