For the last Black History Scavenger Hunt we learn about Barak Obama. Barack Obama made history on November 4, 2008, when he was elected as the 44th President of the United States, becoming the first African American to hold the office. His victory marked a significant milestone in American history, reflecting the nation's progress toward racial equality. Obama's election was a testament to the enduring struggle for civil rights and the ongoing journey toward a more inclusive society. His presidency continues to inspire discussions about race, identity, and political polarization in the United States. Your clue for today is to find a presidential seal. Be sure to look in your Google Classrooms for a picture.

Track and Field starts Monday. Meet in the library afterschool.

Today in Black History we learn about Misty Copeland. Misty Copeland’s achievement of becoming the first African American woman to be promoted to principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre is a groundbreaking moment in the history of classical ballet. She made history in 2015, a year that marked a significant shift in the traditionally exclusive and often homogeneous world of ballet.
Before Copeland, African American dancers faced substantial challenges in breaking into the upper echelons of prestigious ballet companies, where the overwhelming majority of top positions were held by white dancers. Copeland's rise to the top of the American Ballet Theatre defied the odds, and her success serves as both an inspiration and a symbol of breaking barriers in a field known for its racial and body-type limitations. Your clue for today is to find a ballet slipper. Make sure you check your Google Classroom for a picture.

Hola, amigos! The Spanish Club will be meeting on Monday, February 24 after school in Senora Scott's room. Please remember to wear our new Spanish Club t-shirts to club for a group photo. Come join the fiesta!

Ruby Bridges, at just six years old, became the first African American to go to school with white students integrating an all-white elementary school in the South, following the landmark Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision in 1954 that declared racial segregation in public schools unconstitutional. Her courage and determination made her an icon of the civil rights movement. Today starts National School Counseling week! This year’s theme is: Helping Students Thrive, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.  School counseling has a history spanning over 100 years, shaped by numerous economic, social, and educational influences, as well as the contributions of many individuals. Reflecting on its evolution—from a role to a service and, eventually, to a program. Building on past knowledge and embracing future advancements to continue to develop and implement comprehensive school counseling programs in schools nationwide.

Spooky season has officially descended, and what better way to kick it off than with Xenia High School’s annual Halloween Blood Drive? It's happening on October 22nd in the gym, and we want YOU to be part of this life-saving event!  If you’re 16 years old, you’ll need a signed parent/guardian consent form to participate, but if you’re 17 or older, you are good to go with just the form—no parent signature is required! Pick up those forms in the main office, guidance office, or Dr. Rutan’s spooky lab- room (C114) and turn them in by Thursday, October 17th.  The link to sign up is waiting for you on your grade’s Google Classroom, so don’t miss out. You have until the 17th of OCTOBER TO SIGN UP. You will be able to sign up for different time slots, starting at the earliest at 9 AM and the latest at 12:30PM. And remember, all students need to bring a photo ID with your birth date! If you are giving blood in this wonderful life changing event, make sure you eat a balanced breakfast, if you don't, we will have food ready and prepared for you before and after you donate.  Oh, and here's a bonus: if you donate three times during your high school career, you’ll be awarded a red cord to wear proudly at graduation! How’s that for some ghoulish glory?  Ready to sink your teeth into saving lives? Sign up now… after all, Dracula himself might make a guest appearance.

We have a GSA meeting today after school in Mrs.Ohrman's room B233. Please join the GSA for some social time, painting and a movie. As always this club has an open door policy and all are free to join in the fun!xx.
