WEB Leadership Camp

WEB Students Attend 3-Day Leadership Camp
Posted on 09/22/2023
From September 12-14, more than 50 eighth grade WEB leaders traveled to Camp Kentahten for a three-day experience to help them learn and grow as leaders! Located in Green River Lake State Park in Kentucky, the camp's activities encouraged students to learn, grown, and explore, and will help them in their role of leading and mentoring our 6th grade students.

While at camp, students got hands-on with informal, interactive learning in nature. The camp featured a beautiful large waterfront for outdoor aquatic activities, a 400-foot zipline, trails for hiking and mountain biking, a ropes course, climbing tower, soccer, baseball, and football fields, archery, arts, crafts, and drama areas.

The camp encourages exploration and discovery, focuses on social and emotional learning and 21st century skills development. Camp learning has been shown to improve students' academic performance, improve attention, increase engagement and enthusiasm, and improve behavior.

Thanks to a grant from the Tim Horton's Foundation, attendance for this group of students was free. As part of the experience, the students were provided with individualized attention from a variety of caring adults, enjoyed some amazing food, and were provided with comfortable bunk beds in cabins, sleeping bags, sheets, and pillows.

The best part? Our students gained more than just memories that will last a lifetime! These students received an incredible boost to their confidence from this camp experience, and the skills and knowledge students learned will be reinforced throughout the school year as they lead the 6th graders and become the best role models in our school that they can be.
