XHS Students Dig Into Career Exploration
This week, four Xenia High School students were invited to participate in a SheDig program through Operating Engineers Local 18. This unique program provides high school girls with the opportunity to experience a day on the job of an operating engineer. Throughout the day, participants learned about the role of an operating engineer and what to expect in a construction career, as well as training and apprenticeship program opportunities. After a little safety training, they were able to try their hand at operating various heavy equipment machinery such as a backhoe or crane.
Students who showed an aptitude or potential interest in the field were offered the opportunity to participate in this year's program.
