Two Schools Make U.S. News "Best" List for 2027

Xenia Community Schools is pleased to announce that both Arrowood Elementary and Tecumseh Elementary have been recognized in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings as top-performing public elementary schools in Ohio.
The national publication evaluates schools based on state standardized test performance, student proficiency in mathematics and reading, and academic success across all student demographics. The 2027 edition of the Best K-8 Schools was published this week, and the inclusion of Arrowood and Tecumseh highlights the dedication of teachers, staff, and students across the district.
"This recognition reflects the hard work our teachers, administrators, and support staff put in every day to create a strong and supportive learning environment," said Dr. Gabriel Lofton, Superintendent. "We are seeing positive momentum across all of Xenia Community Schools, highlighted by this national recognition as well as our latest state report card scores, where every single school in our district met or exceeded state standards for the first time. This achievement is a true testament to our collective growth.”
Both schools distinguished themselves through strong core academic performance:
- Tecumseh Elementary: With a score of 86.84, Tecumseh was in the top 20% of schools, ranking at 135 of 3,114 elementary schools in Ohio.
- Arrowood Elementary: With a score of 68.66, Arrowood’s solid academic growth and consistent reading and math achievement across grade levels ranked it 320 of 3,114 elementary schools in Ohio.
The U.S. News & World Report rankings rely on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education and state education agencies to evaluate elementary and middle schools, focusing on mastery of core subjects and equitable student achievement.
