Ignite Curiosity This Summer: Xenia Community Schools’ 2026 STEM Camp

Looking for a fun, hands-on way to keep your child’s brain active this summer? Registration is open for the Xenia Community Schools’ Summer STEM Camp 2026!
Running from June 8 – 12 (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) at Cox Elementary, this week-long adventure is designed to spark curiosity and inspire creativity. Students who have just completed grades K–6 will dive into interactive, collaborative projects tailored just for them.
Choose Your Adventure: 2026 Camp Topics
From fairy tales to high-tech fabrication, here is what our campers will be exploring this year:
Grades K–2 (completed in 25-26)
Fairy Tale STEM & Screen-Free Coding
Younger campers will step into a world of imagination and engineering! Students will use teamwork and creativity to design real-world solutions to the unique problems faced by classic fairy tale characters. Additionally, they will get hands-on experience with Sphero Indi robots, learning screen-free coding to solve Sphero’s exciting Global Challenge: To the Zoo.
Grades 3–4 (completed in 25-26): Choose Your Track!
Students who just completed third and fourth grades have two incredible options to choose from this year:
Option 1: Windmill Design & 3D Makerspace
Campers will design a prototype windmill capable of turning wind into mechanical power to lift heavy weights. They will then take their ideas to the next level using 3D modeling, 3D printing, and laser cutting! Students will learn how 3D printing works and take home several of their own custom-created models.
Note: This project is identical to last year's curriculum. Returning students are encouraged to select Option 2!
Option 2: Design Carnival Games & Drones/Robots
Step right up! Students will explore the physics of forces by designing and building their very own carnival and arcade games, integrating cool tech along the way. Campers will also spend the week flying drones and coding various types of robots.
Grades 5–6 (completed in 25-26): Choose Your Track!
Our oldest campers will tackle advanced engineering, coding, and design challenges with two dynamic options:
Option 1: Safety is No "Yolk" & 3D Design
Can you engineer the ultimate safety zone? Students will design ways to keep eggs from breaking in two high-stakes scenarios: the classic egg drop challenge and surviving a simulated car crash. Alongside these physical tests, campers will learn 3D design and use virtual simulations to test moving parts before printing. They will even design, virtually test, and print their own "print-in-place" 3D fidgets to keep!
Option 2: Smart Home Circuits & Micro:bit Robotics
Welcome to the future of automation. Campers will master the basics of circuitry as they wire up the electricity for a model home, connecting it to a micro:bit computer to control lights, fans, a doorbell, and more. Then, they will pivot to robotics, programming a micro:bit-powered robot to navigate mazes, perform light shows, and drive autonomously.
Camp at a Glance
