FFA Members Showcase Leadership and Innovation at 2026 State Convention

Eleven dedicated members of the Xenia-GCCC FFA chapter traveled to Columbus, Ohio, on April 30 and May 1 to represent our community at the 2026 State FFA Convention. The two-day event offered students a blend of motivational leadership, career exploration, and a historic milestone for the local chapter.
The convention kicked off with a powerful keynote from speaker Brad Hurtig, whose message of resilience set the tone for the trip. Between sessions, students explored the Career Show and Expo, connecting with industry professionals and college representatives. A particular highlight for the group was a tour of the Wendy’s Culinary Innovation Center, where students got a behind-the-scenes look at the intersection of agriculture and culinary science.
A Historic Milestone for Emma Slone
The pinnacle of the convention for the chapter was the recognition of Xenia High School student Emma Slone, who was awarded her State FFA Degree. This accolade is the highest honor bestowed by the Ohio FFA Association and serves as a testament to years of hard work, leadership development, and commitment to the program.
The State FFA Degree is a rare achievement, as less than 2% of FFA members across the state of Ohio earn this distinction each year. In the nearly 90-year history of the Xenia FFA Chapter, fewer than 150 individuals have ever reached this level of success.
"Emma’s achievement places her in an elite group of student leaders," said Jacob Wuebben, Xenia-GCCC FFA Advisor. "Her hard work honors the long-standing tradition of excellence in our Xenia program."
