Innovation in Action: Advanced Manufacturing & Design Pathway

It has been an incredibly high-octane semester for our Advanced Manufacturing & Design pathway! From high-speed racing to gourmet engineering, our students have been applying classroom theory to impressive, real-world projects.
Here is a look at what’s happening in the lab, where our students are proving that manufacturing is just as much about creativity as it is about precision:
- Intro to Engineering Design: Students recently wrapped up their CO2 Dragster project, designing and refining aerodynamic vehicles for maximum velocity.
- Manufacturing Operations (MO): In a "sweet" display of the full production cycle, students created custom chocolate bunnies. Students 3D printed the initial bunny prototype, thermoformed a food-safe mold, and cast the chocolate.
- Packaging Design: Students are currently engineering custom trays and boxes for their final products.
- Musical Props & Competition: The MO class has also been pulling double duty, fabricating props for the school musical and preparing a manufactured marble maze for the TSA State competition.
- FlexFactor: Huge congratulations to team SunnyGo, featuring Devon Andrea, Violet Black, Austin Combs, and Kennedy Jones! The team did a fantastic job at the FlexFactor competition, securing a stellar 5th place finish out of 17 teams. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and innovation.
- Senior Capstone: Our capstone student is currently engaged in a sophisticated cross-curricular project, working alongside a Sinclair Community College professor to design and construct a fully functional guitar. This partnership offers an invaluable bridge between high school design and collegiate-level engineering.
