The Global Citizen Challenge: Travel the World Without Leaving Greene County

The A World A’Fair* international festival in Xenia is more than just a weekend of great food — it is a live, interactive laboratory for the Ohio K-12 Social Studies curriculum! This annual event turns classroom lessons into real-world experiences, as families explore global cultures through language, music, dance, and cuisine.
A World A’Fair takes place May 1–3, 2026 at the Greene County Expo Center
Extra Credit: Take the “Global Citizen” Challenge!
To complete this optional challenge, students should choose ONE of the following to turn in to their Social Studies teacher by Friday, May 8:
- The Stamped Youth Passport: Pick up a free Youth Passport booklet at the festival entrance. Visit different country booths, answer their cultural questions, and get your passport stamped!
- The Cultural Sketchbook (Pre-K – Grade 3): Draw three things you saw (like a traditional costume, a musical instrument, or a unique food).
- The "Senses" Report (Grades 4–12): Write a one-page summary describing one thing you heard (music/language), saw (clothing/art), and tasted (food) from a country you’ve never visited.
Whether your student is in kindergarten learning about heritage, studying World Geography & Culture (grades 3-8), or exploring Modern World History at Xenia High School, this festival can help students dig deeper into the history and traditions that shape our world. Students can use the Children’s Passport program to keep track of their visits to the 30+ countries represented, watch performances on the various stages, and speak to representatives of those countries to ask questions as they explore the 2026 theme: "Unity in Diversity."
Single day tickets or 3-day passes are available for purchase online.
