School counselors are uniquely qualified to address all students’ academic, career and social/emotional development needs. Xenia Community Schools adheres to the Ohio Department of Education's "Whole Child Approach to Learning" framework. This framework keeps students at the center while building school, family, and community support systems ensuring each child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
As part of this approach, our school counselors address the needs of all students through culturally relevant prevention and intervention programming that is part of a comprehensive school counseling program. School Counselors help students with social-emotional learning, problem-solving, healthy decision-making, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and intervention and prevention.
As students grow, our middle and high school counselors expand these efforts to include all aspects of college and career planning with students and their families.
