Congratulations to three students from the Xenia High School Band program who were selected to participate in the Wright State University Honor Bands:
- Ella Hernandez - Percussionist - WSU Honor Symphonic Band
- Noah Martindale - Trombone - WSU Honor Jazz Band
- John Sexton - Bass Clarinet - WSU Honor Symphonic Band
The Wright State University Honor Bands rehearsed on Thursday and Friday, culminating with concerts on Saturday, February 17.
Our students got the opportunity to participate in master classes with the music faculty at WSU and to rehearse and learn with directors and professors that are nationally coveted. The guest conductors for each ensemble consisted of Dr. Amy Acklin - Professor of Music and Associate Director of Bands at the University of Louisville, Catherine Abner - WSU Alumni and Band Director at Valley View High School, Sarah Herbert - Assistant Professor of Trumpet and Jazz at Western Kentucky University and Josclynn Garrison - Director of Bands at Mount St. Joseph University.
