2022 Winter Blood Drive

HOSA Winter Blood Drive Exceeds Goal at XHS
Posted on 01/28/2022

HOSA students at Xenia High School hosted their winter blood drive this week, helping collect a total of 33 much-needed units of blood through the Community Blood Center! Of the 41 registrants, six were first-time donors who helped the group exceed their goal of 30 units.

HOSA students host three blood drives each year at XHS, where any students and staff who are eligible to give are invited to participate. Students prepared food and managed the canteen for these caring donors to fuel up, and made sure they were ready to return to class after making their donation.

The next blood drive is scheduled for April 7 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Students can watch for more information from group advisor Mrs. Wavra in their Google Classroom as the date approaches.

What is HOSA?
Future Health Professionals (formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America, or HOSA) is an international career and technical student organization. XHS currently has 40 students in the group, 12 of whom are officers who host the blood drives throughout the year. In addition to the practical experience, students can also earn volunteer credit that counts toward the Barbara James Service Award.
