Planning for Xenia's Future: What's Ahead
Throughout the 2024-2025 school year, Xenia Community Schools will take a serious, in-depth look at what and how we are preparing Xenia students to build successful and happy lives after graduation — a process that begins in their earliest grades and continues through their Senior year at Xenia High School!
For this process, we will bring in voices from across the community to help us first create a Portrait of a Graduate for Xenia students. Ultimately, that Portrait will help us craft a new district strategic plan. Guided by the experts at Battelle for Kids, this process will be complete by the end of the school year.

Portrait of a Graduate
From September to December, we will create that Portrait of a Graduate. This process will involve input from a wide range of voices from across our community. This Portrait Design Team will explore topics such as:
- What are the hopes, aspirations, and dreams that our community has for our young people?
- What are the skills and mindsets that our children need for success in this rapidly changing and complex world?
- What are the implications for the learning experiences we provide in our school systems?
The Team will be made up of more than 50 individuals from across our community who have been invited to participate. It will include a specific mix of teachers, principals, aides, parents, students, recent alumni, business leaders, and other members of the greater Xenia area. This will help ensure that the vision that comes from this work will truly be locally developed, but also globally positioned to help our students succeed.
Strategic Plan
Once the Portrait is complete, likely in December, we will begin the detailed work of using that Portrait to craft a district strategic plan. Used properly, our strategic plan will become the North Star for the district, ensuring that decisions we make are constantly filtered through the lens of that end goal.
From preschool to high school, we will focus our time, energy, and resources to help students attain the skills and develop the mindsets that will help them build a lifetime of success.
