A group of students pose together, many wearing reindeer antlers and Santa hats.

This week, our Xenia High School Student Council wrapped up their annual Baskets for Battle service learning project, when they delivered 200 gift bags to cancer patients at four local hospitals! This is a very engaging and fulfilling service project that allows our students to build meaningful connections in our community, and the have expressed how incredibly thankful they are for the opportunity to do this project.

Each year, the response from the hospitals and patients is so heartfelt that we know our students are making a real impact on these families in their time of need.

From Kettering Cancer Center:
“As always, such a pleasure to have your students here. It’s a fun way to kick off the holiday season around here for patients and staff!! What a great group!! Thanks so much for blessing our patients again this year!! Merry Christmas!!!🎄”

From the relative of one of the patients who received a gift bag this year:
"This morning, a large group of Xenia High School students came to the Kettering Health Cancer Center to bring Christmas gifts to the patients in the treatment center. My father and I were there for his treatment, and I cannot express how grateful I am for the visit. My father was very moved by the gift bag and the impromptu Christmas caroling that ensued."

We are so proud of the effort these XHS students put into this project every year. Way to go, Bucs!
