WMS Girls Discover STEMM Careers

This week, 12 seventh and eighth grade girls from Warner Middle School were invited to participate in a Go Red for STEM event at Wright State University. This all-day program was hosted by the American Heart Association, and students were able to explore STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Medicine) careers and learn from women working in STEMM jobs! Students enjoyed a unique "speed mentoring" session with the women working in STEMM careers, visited labs at WSU to discover what lab rats can teach us about kidney health, and even learned hands-only CPR.
What is STEM Goes Red?
The American Heart Association is working to engage more women in STEM through STEM Goes Red. The program brings interesting careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics to life for young women. By giving students access to leading employers and experts, they have the chance for an insider look at what they do. STEM Goes Red attendees gain firsthand experience, connect with inspiring professionals and learn about jobs across STEM fields.
