Engineering Students Compete at Full Throttle STEM 2023
Posted on 05/11/2023
This week, Xenia High School students attended Full Throttle STEM, an event hosted by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) that aims to build STEM skills to benefit students as they prepare for work and life after high school.

The students, all part of the Principles of Engineering class taught by Anne Kleinhenz-Ott, have worked hard to make sure their team was ready to compete in the event at Eldora Speedway in Ross, OH. The team members who attended: Cody Barres, Jayden Shaw, Jonathan Luckett, Jonathan Cline, and Jonathan Hernandez.  Jonathan Albert was unable to attend, but helped program the team car and prepare for the event.

A team of three (Jayden Shaw, Jonathan Luckett, and Jonathan Hernandez) received 2nd place for their autonomous car. This is a robotic car they programmed to go as far as it could on an unknown track. Jayden Shaw also earned 4th place in the RC (remote control) car obstacle race.

All of the students competed very well, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work to prepare and compete at this event. Be sure to congratulate them when you see them!
