XCS to Receive School Safety Grant

Last fall, Xenia Community Schools applied for funding through Ohio's School Safety Grant program to improve physical security throughout the district's eight school buildings. The district was notified this week that we will receive the full requested amount: $800,000.
As part of the application process, the district worked closely with the Xenia Police Department to complete a vulnerability assessment of each building. The funds from the grant will be used to address those areas of concern, which include addressing issues that range from improved lighting and PA systems to more secure doorways and improved security cameras.
Details about the timeline for improvements is yet to be determined. More information will be shared with XCS families and our community as details are available.
