Real Money, Real World for Semester 1

Real Money, Real World Simulation at Warner Middle School
Posted on 01/06/2023
Just before winter break, Warner Middle School students participated in a Real Money, Real World simulation, where students learned about personal finance. 7th and 8th grade students explored topics such as career and lifestyle choices, money management, cost of living, and financial security.

This simulation is the culmination of the Real Money, Real World program, which has been held at Warner Middle School for many years. The Curriculum and Instruction Department worked with the OSU Extension Office to offer the program, which includes four lessons integrated into exploratory classrooms, followed by this interactive experience. For the big day, students are given a scenario and then are asked to make important financial decisions based on their simulated income and lifestyle. The event is staffed by volunteers at various stations who help students make good financial choices as they and create a positive life balance.

The program will be held again in May for students taking the exploratory classes second semester.

In addition to staff from our Gifted Program, the Curriculum and Instruction Office, and numerous parent volunteers, we would like to thank community partners who volunteered for the day, making the program possible!
