Posted on 03/02/2021
At a special meeting of the Board of Education on Monday, March 1, 2021, Jennifer Marietta announced her resignation.

A member of the Xenia Community Schools Board of Education since 2016, Ms. Marietta recently accepted a position as magistrate with the Greene County Juvenile Court that posed a potential conflict of interest, as she will soon be in a position to hear cases that involve Xenia families and district students.

The vacancy must be filled within 30 days, and the remaining board members have issued notice of the resignation, with complete guidelines for applicants to submit their brief letter of interest.

As part of these guidelines, any qualified and interested citizen may submit a letter of interest by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15. Applicants will be reviewed that same week, and interviews will be scheduled.

A special meeting of the board will be held on Monday, March 29 at 6:00 p.m., where the applicants will be discussed (in executive session), and a vote taken during open session to appoint Ms. Marietta’s replacement.

The new board member will be sworn in at the next regular meeting of the Board of Education on April 12, and would serve the remainder of Ms. Marietta’s unexpired term, which ends on December 31, 2021.
