Summer Learning 2022

Summer Learning Opportunities Keep Your Student's Brain in the Game!
Posted on 05/24/2022
Don’t let the summer “slide” get your student down! All XCS students will have the opportunity to continue learning all summer long, with the chance to work on projects at home, participate in virtual get-togethers with teachers and other students, and also join in-person and virtual tutoring sessions.

Check out these ways our Instructional Services Department has planned to keep your young learner’s brain engaged all summer long:

Digital Summer Learning Challenge

Resources are now available for all K-8 students to download!  Each grade level will have a list of local "field trip" ideas for families, along with math, science, reading, and other resources to keep students learning all summer long.

Tutoring Opportunities

In-person K-12 Tutoring will take place at McKinley on July 12, 14, 19, and 21 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Sign-ups for these face-to-face learning opportunities will be available online by June 1.

Virtual Learning Opportunities for K-8 students that will be posted in July to correspond with the in-person sessions (July 12, 14, 19, and 21). Online videos will include science experiments, reading activities, math manipulatives, and history lessons. These will also be linked under the STUDENTS area of the website when they are available.

Summer Reading Bus

The Summer Reading Bus program is back! Students in grades PreK - 5 are invited to join us at McKinley Elementary on Wednesdays from July 13 – August 3 for the Summer Reading Bus program. Each week, students can join us for a specially-themed program from 11:30 – 12:30 p.m.
