Kids of Character Recognized at October Board Meeting

At the October 14 Board of Education meeting, we recognized our Kids of Character for the district! Each month, one student from each building is recognized for modeling positive character traits such as respect, responsibility, and integrity for their fellow students.

Congratulations to our October 2024 Kids of Character:

Xenia Preschool: Atlun Boden
Atlun brings great joy to Mrs. William’s class. He follows classroom and school rules, listens attentively, and is always eager to help. His kindness and friendly nature makes him a friend to everyone. She is very happy to have Atlun as part of her class!

Arrowood Elementary: Daisy Barnes
Daisy is very deserving to be recognized as Arrowood's Kid of Character for the month of October. Her Math teacher, Ms. Lewis writes, " Daisy is a great example of what it means to be a good student and a role model to her peers. She comes to school everyday with a positive attitude and is always prepared and ready to learn. She is kind and respectful to her teachers and her classmates and does an exceptional job following school and classroom expectations. She can always be counted on to make good decisions and do what is asked of her. She has outstanding behavior, is attentive in class, participates often, and completes her work. It is evident that Daisy takes school and her learning seriously by maintaining good grades and always doing her best each and every day. She is a pleasure to teach and is destined for much success! "

Cox Elementary: Lizzie Brandon
Lizzie was nominated by her 4th grade teacher Mrs. Gerrard. Lizzie is a new student to Cox Elementary this year, and she has been a great addition to our Cox family. Lizzie always has a smile for everyone and will lend a helping hand to any teacher or student who needs help. She has made friends so easily you would never know she's only been here this year. Lizzie works hard in all her classes and takes her schoolwork seriously. Lizzie is a delight to see each day!

McKinley Elementary: Jocelyn Esterline
The McKinley fourth grade teachers are pleased to announce Jocelyn Esterline as our Kid of Character. She is an exceptional student who works hard academically and athletically. Jocelyn aspires to be an artist and writer. She enjoys writing poetry and loves to read. She also participates in cheerleading, soccer, and volleyball. She is a model student in how she conducts herself both inside and outside of the classroom. Congratulations to Jocelyn from the fourth grade teachers at McKinley.

Shawnee Elementary: Thomas Hayashi 
Thomas is someone friends and family can always count on. If he promises to help, he follows through. He is part of our school's news crew and also helps students with Safety Patrol. Thomas exemplifies responsibility through his trustworthiness, helpfulness, and organization. He shows that being responsible is not only about completing tasks but also about caring for others and making a positive impact in his community.

Tecumseh Elementary: Kathleen Cook
Kathleen was chosen to represent respect in her classroom and was an obvious choice to represent Tecumseh, everyday she comes in and shows respect to both the people and things around her. Whether Kathleen is friends with someone or not, she always treats them with the utmost respect and makes them feel welcomed at our school. She follows directions and listens even when nobody is watching her. Kathleen is strong, kind, thoughtful, and an amazing role model for students to look up to at Tecumseh. We are so incredibly proud of the young lady she is becoming and are going to miss her next year!!

Warner Middle School - Team Raiders: Sophia Dugan 
Team Raiders enthusiastically recommends Sophie Dugan for the Kid of Character award. As her teachers, we have witnessed her outstanding qualities both inside and outside the classroom. Sophie consistently demonstrates exceptional character, leadership, and an attitude that positively impacts her peers and the school community.

From the start, she has been a class leader, always eager to help others and going above and beyond in her assignments. Her dedication to excellence is commendable, and her questions not only enhance her understanding but also create a collaborative environment. In group settings, Sophie naturally leads, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.

Her helpfulness extends beyond academics; her politeness and cheerful demeanor make her a joy to have in class, uplifting those around her. Sophie embodies school spirit and true leadership, setting a high standard for her peers.

In conclusion, we wholeheartedly recommend Sophie for the Kid of Character award. Her remarkable character and influence make her a deserving candidate, and we look forward to her continued contributions to the school and community.

Warner Middle School - Team Marauders: Kinley Cazzell
Character is defined as qualities of honesty, kindness, and integrity, and Kinley Cazzell exhibits all of these.  Kinley is a hard-working student, and she has demonstrated this both in all of her classes and outside of class.  Kinley is someone you can always count on to be prepared and ready to participate.  In the classroom, she is willing to assist teachers and give students in need a helping hand.  Her kindness towards others is shown on a daily basis.  Kinley has a love of learning, which is evident every day by her enthusiasm, work ethic, and diligence in completing her work.   

Kinley is also very active and participates in both IMPACT and Cross Country at WMS. In both of these after school activities, you can see her preparedness and work ethic on full display. Kinley has a passion to help others be the best they can be in both of the after school activities. Because of this and much more, Kinley is a joy to have in class, on the team, or in the club because she puts her whole self in and participates, adding to her education and the school culture.  Those around her find much to appreciate about her character. Congratulations Kinley!

Warner Middle School - Team Vikings: Soraya Evege 
It is with great pride that the 7th Grade Teachers recommend Soraya Evege for the honor of being our Kid of Character. Soraya is a remarkable young lady whose everyday actions truly embody the essence of what it means to be a Kid of Character, making her incredibly deserving of this recognition.

In the classroom, Soraya stands out as a self-motivated learner. She approaches her work with enthusiasm and takes great pride in everything she does. From the moment class begins to the very last minute, Soraya is fully engaged, maintaining steady eye contact and demonstrating a genuine passion for learning. Her attention to detail ensures that she always puts forth her very best effort.

Beyond her academic achievements, Soraya is known for her friendliness and respectfulness. She is always willing to lend a helping hand to her peers, creating a positive and supportive atmosphere in our classroom. Her kindness and approachability make her a wonderful role model for her classmates.

As teachers, we genuinely love having Soraya in our class. Her dedication and cheerful spirit make each day brighter, and her commitment to learning is truly inspiring.

Xenia High School: Trimonde Henry
I am honored to nominate Trimonde Henry for the High School Kid of Character award. As captain of the varsity football team, he exemplifies leadership, dedication, and integrity, earning the respect of coaches and peers alike. His impressive 4.74 GPA and membership in the National Honor Society highlight his academic excellence and commitment to service. Trimonde actively engages in various service projects, youth camps, and the local FISH food pantry, demonstrating his dedication to the community. He also contributes to Student Council, Chemistry Club, and Buccaneer Buddies, fostering school spirit and unity. Trimonde Henry is a young man of great character, whose contributions to our school and community are invaluable. He embodies the qualities of a true leader and is undoubtedly deserving of this recognition.
