New Board Members Sworn in at the January Regular Meeting of the Board of Education

On Monday, January 10, 2022, the Xenia Community Schools Board of Education welcomed three new board members. 

Following the swearing-in by Treasurer Carolyn Huber, the three new members joined current board members Dr. Pamela Callahan and Mrs. Tami Bartley for the first regular meeting of their four-year tenure. 

During the organizational meeting, Joshua Day was chosen as the President, and Mary Grech was selected as Vice President for 2022. Per board policy, leadership of the XCS Board of Education shifts annually. 

The three new board members were elected to their positions on the November ballot: 

  • Mr. Joshua Day – An aerospace engineer currently working for the Air Force Research Lab, Mr. Day resides in Xenia with his young family and is a strong advocate for STEM education. 

  • Mrs. Mary Grech – A long-time resident of Spring Valley Township, Mrs. Grech is a licensed Occupational Therapist who retired from her work as a school-based therapist in 2021, but continues to remain active providing private OT services and works in the family’s small business. She has three adult daughters who attended Xenia Community Schools.

  • Mr. George Leightenheimer – A resident of Xenia for 16 years, Mr. Leightenheimer holds a K-12 license in special education. He has three children who attend Xenia Community Schools, and is active in several local organizations, including DeMolay and the Cedarville Masonic Lodge. He has also served in leadership for the Cedarville Area Chamber of Commerce.
