Meal Service Goes Mobile

XCS Meal Service Delivery
Posted on 12/04/2020
UPDATE 1/20/21:
Neighborhood meal delivery will end when students return to in-person learning, scheduled for Monday, February 1.

Students who opted to learn remotely for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year will be able to pick up a week's worth of meals on Fridays, but must place an order each week.

As a reminder, these families must request meals the week prior, then pick up on Friday from 12:30-1:00 p.m. at Warner Middle School. The order form will be open from Wednesday – Friday for meals the following week.

Beginning Monday, December 7, XCS cafeteria staff will team up with our bus drivers to deliver meals along normal routes throughout the district! Families will now be able to take advantage of deliveries to their neighborhoods, but should note that some stops may be shifted slightly due to safety concerns.

A complete schedule with estimated delivery times is now available, but we anticipate that routes will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m., and take 2 - 2½ hours. Students who do not normally ride the bus may choose any stop that is convenient for them, based on location and time. We do ask families to prepare to be flexible as we begin this new process, as there may be delays.

NOTE: To find your location and time on the list linked above, search for the nearest stop from your regular bus (listed by bus number). If your child does not normally ride the bus, search for the most convenient stop by street name.
Hint: To search, press ctrl + F (on desktop) or "Find on page"/"Search" from a mobile device.

Due to safety concerns, a few of the larger stops, such as those at apartment complexes, may have been shifted to a nearby location. Be sure to check the list to confirm details!

Given that every student is eligible for this service, families will not be required to order meals ahead of time. However, they must provide student ID numbers for each student (PreK-12) receiving meals at the time of delivery.

As always, XCS staff will be wearing masks and taking other safety precautions; students and/or family members who come to pick up meals are also required to wear masks.

Note that this is a change from previously announced plans, which asked families to pick up meals at their regular building. This change is designed to make meals more readily accessible for all XCS students, regardless of transportation concerns.
