Hiba Loukssi and Cayce Jones at the BPA state competition. This spring, XHS Junior Hiba Loukssi won first place at the state conference of the Business Professionals of America (BPA), earning her place as President of the state leadership team for the 2022-23 school year. Hiba (pictured here with Senior Cayce Jones, her campaign manager at the state competition) was initially selected as one of twelve competitors to participate at the state level, and wrote the speech as part of her campaign for a state leadership position. Her campaign focused largely on change and protecting mental health, and you can watch the video of her speech, as well as the moment she was announced as President, below.

Hiba went on to represent Xenia High School and BPA Region 15 as the President of BPA of Ohio at the National Leadership Conference in Dallas. She led the six-person state officer team in community service, organizational tasks, award ceremonies, and planning meetings which kept her very busy during her stay. Hiba looks forward to serving as President of Ohio BPA through her senior year, and she has her eye on running for National Executive Leadership Officer in 2023!

Larkavery Maloney and Kaylah Rex at the BPA state competition.Avery Maloney (Senior) and Kaylah Rex (Freshman), participated in the Business Professionals of America Podcast Team event this year. After winning regionals and qualifying at the state level, they also traveled to Dallas, Texas to compete on a national level. Out of 25 teams nationally, they made it into the top ten which qualified them for finals. For finals, Avery and Kaylah had to compete again among the finalists, and placed 10th overall.

Avery and Kaylah (pictured here at the state competition) agree that the experience taught them about how hard work, professional dress, and a winning attitude can lead to success, and they very much appreciated the opportunity. Avery will go on to study media production at BGSU, and Kaylah definitely wants to compete in BPA again next school year.

Congratulations to these students on their success, and we are proud to have them represent Xenia Schools at this national event!
