Attendance Challenge Trophy Presentation

Cox Elementary Receives Trophy for First Attendance Challenge of 2024-25
Posted on 01/29/2025

Once again this fall, our elementary schools held a friendly Attendance Challenge, where each elementary school tracked their attendance percentage during the competition. The school with the highest percentage of attendance over the designated weeks wins the challenge, and keeps the trophy until the next challenge is issued.

For the fall contest, we are incredibly proud that every elementary building had AT LEAST 91% attendance during the contest weeks. We know that our students reaped the benefits of being in class with us every day. Congratulations to everyone!

The final tally for attendance for the Fall Challenge:

  • Cox: 93.14%
  • Arrowood: 91.83%
  • Tecumseh: 91.39%
  • McKinley: 91.09%
  • Shawnee: 91.00%
While the stakes for students are always high, our elementary principals upped the ante a little during this year's fall challenge! The principal of the school with the lowest attendance percentage agreed to don a dreaded chicken suit to present the trophy to the winning school.

This week, Mr. Poole made good on his part of the bargain, as he and Ms. Peterson hosted an eggs-traordinary assembly to present the trophy to Cox! Their im-peck-able costumes were a big hit with the students and staff, who credit their success in the challenge to their much-coveted weekly "screaming chicken" award for classes with the highest attendance.

As a reminder, the trophy can change hands each time the challenge is issued — and Cox Elementary has already issued a challenge for spring from March 3 - April 11, 2025! Be sure to watch for the challenge at the end of the video recap of the trophy presentation that took place this past Tuesday — and best of cluck to our schools during the spring challenge!
