AFJROTC Hosts Raider Competition

Posted on 10/31/2022
Xenia High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) hosted over 180 cadets from 10 JROTC programs for a fitness challenge known as Raiders on Saturday, October 22, 2022.

Raider competitions are designed for a small group of physically fit and mentally tough cadets to compete in various outdoor activities with solid amenities to ensure the safety of the participants. The Raiders program improves physical fitness and mental toughness; promotes teamwork and camaraderie; builds leadership and followership skills; teaches self-discipline, and provides a fall sport for JROTC cadets. However, cadets will simply say, “We love it!"

Many JROTC units around the country hold Raider events and Xenia is working toward being highly competitive in these Raider events! To celebrate their accomplishment, those who competed in the event earned a ribbon to proudly wear on their uniforms.

About AFJROTC at Xenia High School

The 2022-2023 school year is the second year of the JROTC program at Xenia High School. JROTC is a leadership development program that combines classroom experiences with service to students' schools and communities. The program teaches students the values of leadership, teamwork, and self-discipline. Skills taught by their retired Air Force instructors are valuable for all students, not just those interested in joining the military in the future. The mission of Air Force Junior ROTC is to "Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community."
