2022-2023 Staggered Start for Fall

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: STAGGERED START DAYS
As we have done the past several years, XCS will have a staggered start for fall!
This means that your student's first day of school can vary, based on their grade. The earliest possible start date is Wednesday, August 17, but there is some variation to allow for Kindergarten screening in our elementary buildings, as well as orientations for the youngest grades in our secondary buildings.
The "Day 1" staggered start schedule for the 2022-2023 school year:
▪️ Wednesday, August 17: First Day for Grades 1-6, 9 (Orientation for 6th and 9th grade students)
▪️ Thursday, August 18: First Day for Grades 7-8, 10
▪️ Friday, August 19: First Day for Grades 11-12
▪️ Monday, August 22: First Day for Preschool & First Day for Kindergarten (A-K only)
▪️ Tuesday, August 23: First Day for Kindergarten (L-Z only)
Unless otherwise noted (for Kindergarten), once your student has their first day, they will attend every day after that.
OPEN HOUSE SCHEDULE
All open house events will take place the week of August 15. Find the fall Open House schedule for the 2022-2023 school year here.
KINDERGARTEN
For Kindergarten, screenings will be scheduled August 17-19, with a separate open house in their home building on Friday, August 19 (times vary). The following Monday-Tuesday, half the group will attend each day (using the schedule above), and then all students will be in class together on Wednesday, August 24.

FINAL FORMS PAPERWORK + FREE/REDUCED MEAL CHANGES
Are you ready for the coming school year? Families of both new and returning students should complete all paperwork online using Final Forms prior to the start of the 2022-2023 school year, paying special attention to changes in free/reduced meal options.

TRANSPORTATION
Have questions about transportation and busing?
Be sure to visit the transportation page to learn more about using the FirstView app to track your student's bus each day. You can set alerts so that you know when the bus is close, or even just check on arrival/departure confirmations!
Also, an email will be sent through Final Forms to all enrolled student families (by August 8) with their student's route information for fall so that you can set up your routes in FirstView. Routes will also be posted at the doors of your student’s home school building by student ID number (no names) on or before Wednesday, August 11.
Note that overall changes in district enrollment after this date may cause a change in final route assignments. An updated list will be posted by Monday, August 15.

ENROLLMENT
And remember... for students who are new to the district, families should plan to complete enrollment by five (5) business days before school at the latest to ensure that your enrollment can be processed, and that classroom assignments can be made.
