3/13/20

  • Corbin Linebaugh please report to the library at this time.
  • Attention Student Council: The results for next year's Executive Board will be made at the end of the day. If you have your t-shirt form and money, please bring that to Mrs. Petraiuolo in room B112
  • Students planning on going to the HOSA Elementary Steam Day at Tecumseh Elementary should report to class as normal, as it has been cancelled.
  • To all students involved, the Musical Tech Crew meeting scheduled for this afternoon has been cancelled.
  • Students, if you have library books in your locker that you are not using, please return them to the library.
  • Students, if you borrowed a loaner Chromebook or charger from the library, it is imperative that you return them before leaving today. Return your loaner Chromebook or charger as soon as possible.
  • The FFA would like to thank everyone who supported us and participated this week during FFA Week. Together we raiser $75 for children's hospital, and while we may not know exactly when...Mr Torrence WILL be kissing a pig sometime in the near future.
  • Congratulations to the 2020-2021 Executive board. The Class Representatives are Kiera Doty, Hiba Loukssi, Paige Webb, Giselle Woods, Dylan Alex, Brylee Dixon, Cayce Jones, Kelsey Kellner, Jada McAvene, Haley McManus, Jobe Vogelsong, Karleigh Godfrey, Julia King, Madison Leverance and Kemri Harris. 3/11/20

  • Congressman Michael R. Turner is hosting the United States Service Academy Day and Co-Hosted by Senator Rob Portman and Senator Sherrod Brown on Thursday March 26th. The event will take place at Centerville High School. The Doors open at 5:30 pm with a presentation of Academies at 6:00 pm followed by breakout sessions at 6:30 pm. Representatives from the United States Army (West Point), Navy, Merchant Marine, Air Force and Coast Guard academies will be on hand to provide interested high school students and their families with information on the general requirements and qualifications for the nomination process.
  • There is a Low Rim 3v3 basketball tournament THIS Friday night at the Xenia Community Center at 7pm. Register your team today at THECLEFT.org/lowrim. $150 goes to the winning team. Register today.
  • FFA Week update

    Thank you to everyone that participated in Ag Careers Day today. The class winners are Senior Alyssia Echols, Sophomore Abbi Vandyke, and Freshman Christian Collins. Please report to Mr. Wuebben's Room, C121, at your earliest convenience for your prize!

    Tomorrow is Farm Animal Day so dress in something related to your favorite farm animal for your chance to win a prize!

    Thanks to every who donated to Kiss a Pig today. The Current leader is Mr. Duvernay with $18.98, in Second place is Mrs. Tate with $18.73, and third place is Mr. Torrence with $12.14. Again all money donated goes to Nationwide Children's Hospital! Thanks for your Donations!

  • The Leo Lucas Scholarship application is available at www.ohioschoolboards.org/ohio-black-caucus. The eligibility requirements for the scholarship are as follows: Student must be ethnically diverse Student must be eligible to graduate from a public high school in 2020 Student must provide proof of acceptance to an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning with the intention of completing a two-year or four-year degree prior to award conferral/ and attend that school.   Student must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Come sign up for Xenia High School's dunk contest and three point contest! It is only $1 to enter and the contest will be held during halftime at the Student vs Staff basketball game on March 20th! Sign-ups are in Mrs. Petraiuolo's room, B112. You must have your money when you sign up! All entries must be in by March 19th, and all grades are welcome to enter!
  • Dana Dyer, Ayden McPherson and Julian Daniel please return your loaner Chromebook chargers to the library.

    Today's Ag Fact of the day - In Ohio 1 in 7 jobs are related to agriculture, but only 2% are Farmers. Of those Farmers, 30% are women.

  • April 6th is the third and last blood drive here at Xenia High School. Permission slips are now available in the main office, guidance office, and outside room C114 on the bulletin board. They are due by Wednesday, April 1st, right after spring break and can be dropped off at all those same locations. You must be 16 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. This is your last chance to save a life this school year!

  • Congratulations to senior wrestler Desmond Diggs!  Desmond places 3rd this past weekend at Districts to be the first Xenia wrestler to qualify to state since 2015. Desmond will compete in the OHSAA wrestling state tournament March 13-15! Congrats Desmond and good luck!
  • Attention all NHS members we will have our March meeting THIS Thursday (3/12) @ 7am.
  • There will be a student council meeting this Wednesday at 7:00 AM in the library! We will be voting on next year's executive board! All are welcome to attend!

  • Hola, amigos! Let's TACO 'bout what's happening in el Club de español on Monday, March 9th from 2:30-4:00 pm. The members have been working hard to make this meeting a- MAíZ-ing! We will be having a scavenger hunt, an authentic food tasting, prizes and fun! Come join the fiesta! You won't want to miss this one!!!

  • Congratulations to the livestock judging team of Harley Thompson, Spencer Hinkle, Brody Burrell, and Samara Alderman on their team score of 1937 points at the Wilmington Aggies contest yesterday! Harley led the team with a score of 514 points. Team members judged 7 of the 9 classes perfectly, and are looking forward to improving their evaluations skills throughout this livestock judging season!

  • All Boys’ Basketball Equipment is to be laundered and turned in to Coach Anderson by the end of this week. Practice gear, travel suits, and travel bags are due in by Friday.

  • Wilberforce is having a Student Preview Day March 28th. Get on campus and experience campus life and much more. All students must be registered. The link to register is Wilberforce.edu/you-belong.

  • The FFA Chapter is celebrating National FFA Week March 9th through the 13th. Join our celebration by participating in our Spirit Week. Monday is Flannel Day, Tuuesday is Truck and Tractor T-Shirt Day, Wednesday is Ag Career Day, Thursday is Farm Animal Day, and Friday is Blue and Gold Day.
  • Help the FFA Chapter Raise some Dough at Rapid Fired pizza on Tuesday March 10th. Stop by C121, Mr Wuebben's room, to get a flyer to show the cashier at checkout. A portion of your purchase will be donated to Children's Hospital, the official charity of Ohio FFA.

  • This Thursday, March 5th the Advanced Theater classes will be presenting a one-night only double feature of plays in the Auditorium at 6pm."Perfect Score" by Katie Henry documents a year in the life of four high school seniors, highlighting the academic and social pressures that come with going through the college application process. "Murder at the Banquet" by Robert LaVohn is a comedy murder mystery set against the backdrop of an awards ceremony held by the International Association of Mystery Solvers. Admission is free and doors open at 5:30, come out and support your fellow classmates in these wonderful productions!
  • Attention Student Council, T-shirt voting is in google classroom, and will go on until this Friday. If you are planning on being on the ballot for the 2020-2021 Student Council Executive Board your application is due to Mrs. Petraiuolo by this Friday! Late applications will not be considered!
  • Any senior who is interested in playing or coaching in the Student vs. Staff Basketball game should see Mrs. Petraiuolo in room B112 to sign up! It is $3 to play or coach and the game is on March 20th. Please see Mrs. Petraiuolo with any questions!
  • Student Council would like to thank everyone who donated to our Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Fundraiser. As a school we were able to raise more than our goal of $3,500, so thank you! The winners of the class challenges are as follows. In third place, with a total of $259.58 we have Mr. Richey's class. (Small Pause) In second place, with a total of $408.88 we have Mr. McComb's class. And in first place, with an amazing donation of $1,113.40 we have Mrs. Tate's class! Congratulations to Mr. Richey's and Mr. McComb's class who have won an Ice Cream party, and to Mrs. Tate's class who have won an Olive Garden lunch! Again thank you to everyone!
  • Attention Seniors: the Xenia High School local scholarships are due to the Guidance Office by Wednesday, March 4 at 2:30 pm. Please include everything that is being asked for when turning in the scholarship applications.
  • A reminder to all 7th period teachers that the concert and symphonic band students will rehearse during seventh period today. You should have a list of concert band students you will be missing in an email sent to you on Friday.
  • All 11th grade honors students must return your Gatsby workbook to Mrs. Burgess before you leave today.
