1/31/20

  • Attention All Swim Team Members: Please stop by Mrs. Miller's room (B99) for important information about the banquet.
  • Attention Seniors today student Council is holding MC auditions! Come by Mrs. Petraiuolo's room during your lunch to audition!
  • Hello Xenia High School! We have had a wonderful start to our Leukemia and Lymphoma fundraiser! Remember to bring in all your spare change! Mr. Matson's class is still in first place, but Mrs. Tate and Mr. McComb's classes are close behind! 1st place will receive an Olive Garden lunch, and 2nd and 3rd place will receive an ice cream party. So keep donating!
  • Having a bad hair day or don’t feel like doing your hair? No sweat, wear a hat to school on February 5th for 50 cents. All proceeds are donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
  • Karl Hoffman, Molly Jones and George Leightenheimer please return loaner chargers to the library.

  • Next Wednesday is Hat Day! Be sure to bring in 50 cents and wear a hat to donate money to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!
  • Next week student council and HOSA will be selling valentine's day flowers for only $2 at all lunches. Flowers will be delivered to your besty or your boo on valentines day! Come help support student council and HOSA!
  • Our Leukemia Lymphoma fundraiser is off to a great start! Mr. Matson's class is currently in first place! Keep up the great work! Remember that the 1st place winners get an Olive Garden lunch and 2nd and 3rd place winners get an ice cream party! Let’s make it a group effort and keep donating to help those suffering from blood cancer.

  • Attention all GSA members, our next meeting is THIS Monday, February 3rd, after school, in Mrs. Ohrman's room, B233. I repeat, our next GSA meeting is Monday, February 3rd, in Mrs. Ohrman's room. We will be working on a creative project with posters and skits. Remember, we are always accepting new members and anyone interested is welcome to attend.
  • Did you miss the student council meeting this morning? Don't worry, stop by Mrs. Petraiuolo's room during your lunch to find out what you missed, and sign up for our future events!
  • Time to start donating to Leukemia and Lymphoma! Place your donations in the red box in your 5th period class! Don't forget first place winner receives an Olive Garden Lunch!
  • Hat day is February 5th. For only fifty cents you can wear your favorite cap! All proceeds go toward Leukemia Lymphoma.
  • Karl Hoffman, Olympia Wiley, and Faith Drazek please return loaner Chromebook chargers to the library.
  • The winter blood drive, hosted by Xenia HOSA Chapter, is on Feb. 6th.right before the next day off of school. Students who would like to participate have only a few days left to turn in their permission slips which are due this Friday, January 31st by 2pm. Students must be 16 years old and weight at least 110 pounds. Participating students will receive a long sleeve shirt as a thank you gift and delicious treats provided by the Xenia HOSA student body. Please sign up today to secure your spot to save a life!
  • Urbana University will be here during 4th period on Monday, March 9. Please sign up in the Guidance Office if you would like to hear their presentation

  • Attention all baseball players. Fundraiser money and tickets are due by Thursday. Coach Claus will be in the weight room after school on Tuesday and Thursday to collect. Any questions, contact Coach Claus. 
  • The library will be closed during 6th period today, that's Tuesday.

  • Pasta for pennies is almost here! Today in your 5th period class, a StuCo Executive Board member will come and bring your donation boxes and talk to you about our fundraiser. They will answer any questions you have about the project, and they will tell you about the great prizes!

Listen up...If you love representing your squad and showing everyone that Buc Nation pride then we ABSOLUTELY need you tomorrow night to show up and show out as Xenia Girls Basketball battles it out with Greenville and celebrate our SENIORS Alexis Claybaugh, Olivia Wakefield and Kelli Hatfield for SENIOR NIGHT!!!  We will be selling $1 STUDENT tickets at lunch time and at the door tomorrow so be sure to come see your Seniors play in one of their final home games!   • This week Xenia High School is participating in the Great Kindnesss Challenge.  There are hundreds of ways to show someone you care.  Look for opportunities this week to perform Random Acts of Kindness!  Teachers get your Buc Cards ready, we will pick one student this.

  • Hola, amigos! We have Spanish Club today after school in Señora Scott's room until 3:15.
  • Almost 40% of people experiencing homelessness in the United States are under 18. One item they commonly request in homeless shelters is a pair of jeans. Why? Jeans are comfortable in any season and can be worn multiple times between washes. Plus, for a teenager without many belongings, wearing a pair of jeans can provide a sense of normalcy. NHS is collection gently used clean jeans from Jan. 27- Feb.14. You can drop off your jeans in the main lobby, Mrs. Parker's room, Mrs. Petraraiuolo's room, and Senora Scott's room.

  • Students participating in the HOSA Elementary STEAM Day at Cox Elementary should report to Mrs. Wavra's room immediately after the announcements.
  • Our next hat day is almost here! Be sure to wear a hat and show your school spirit on February 5th. Cost is only $0.50 All proceeds go toward Student Councils Leukemia Lymphoma Fundraiser.

  • Approximately every 3 minutes, someone in the US is diagnosed with a blood cancer. More than 1.3 million people are living with or in remission from a blood cancer. And more than one third of blood cancer patients do not survive 5 years after diagnosis. Through this fundraiser, we hope to raise money to fight for a cure! Make sure to bring in money to your 5th period classes starting in February!

  • Yo yo yo it’s that time of the year again! It’s time to raise money for the leukemia and lymphoma society. Over the next couple of weeks you can donate and help people that are in need. Bring in any extra change to help us reach our goal of $3,500! Make your donation during the month of February in your fifth period class. The 5th period that donates the most money will receive an Olive Garden lunch and 2nd and 3rd will receive an ice cream party! Our goal this year is to reach $3,500 so get ready to help us donate!!

  • Do you like poetry? XHS is hosting our first Poetry Out Loud competition on Friday, January 31st at 2:30 in the library. The winner can advance to the state and national competitions. See an English teacher for more details if you are interested in participating.

  • Leukemia is a cancer of blood-forming tissues. There are 11 different types of Leukemia. Many people who are diagnosed with leukemia are forced to undergo extremely painful treatments and often cannot do simple tasks such as getting out of bed or go to school. This February, help donate to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, a non-profit organization that helps fund the research to beat cancer and create less painful treatments. The organization has helped fund over $1.4 billion dollars toward the fight. Make your donation during the month of February in your fifth period class. The 5th period that donates the most money will receive an Olive Garden lunch and 2nd and 3rd will receive an ice cream party! Our goal this year is to reach $3,500 so get ready to help us donate!!
  • Baseball fundraiser first turn in will be Thursday after school in the weight room? Players should report with and any money and tickets sold.

  • PEP BAND members: reminder that there is practice today, 2:40-4:00. We will be taking pictures for the yearbook, so you should be wearing your pep band t-shirt. See Mr. Johnson IMMEDIATELY after school if you need a temporary t-shirt.
  • Attention girls’ basketball players the bus tonight now leaves at 4:15pm, again the bus now leaves for Piqua at 4:15pm.

  • Attention all NHS members. We need volunteers to help set up for our Teens for Jeans service project. All members who want to volunteer should be in Mrs. Parker's room after school on Thursday. All supplies will be provided.

Sign up to save a life today by picking up a permission slip in the main office, guidance office, or on the bulletin board outside of room C114. Students must be 16 years of age and weigh 110 pounds by Feb. 6th. Permission slips can be turned into those same locations and are due by Jan. 31st.

  • The Xenia girls’ varsity bowling team picked up his first tournament championship of the season by winning the baker bash that was held on Monday. The girls finished first in a field of 30 teams to claim the title. The strong field featured 4 state qualifying teams from last season . Members of the competing squad were freshmen Tori McPherson and McKenzie Barker, Junior‘s Kelsey Rose And Gracie Howell and seniors Makayla Poplin and Katie Moody Moody. Congratulations.

  • Sophomores interested in attending the Career Center next year... There is an Open House & Chili Dinner TONIGHT from 5-7pm. You can bring your family and learn more about the career programs, academic offerings, scholarship opportunities, placement programs, and work-based learning. The teaching staff will be on hand to answer any questions. The event is free and open to the public.

  • Congratulations to the Xenia Girls Basketball team for finishing off their week with their 3rd straight victory after defeating West Carrollton Saturday!"The Varsity team was led by sharpshooting Brynna Mardis who made 6 - 3 pointers and finished with 20 points & Amarie Withers with another 3 - 3 pointers finishing with 17 points! Reaghan Wakefield added 9 points and 8 rebounds! Great job girls and keep the WIN STREAK alive!  The ladies are back in action this Wednesday at Home as they face Tipp City for a rematch.   • Attention girls entering grades 9-12 for the 2020-21 school year, the informational meeting for anyone interested in participating with the Xenia Women's Soccer Program during the 2020 fall season has been scheduled for Wednesday, January 29th.  The meeting is for girls and their parents and begins promptly at 6:30 PM in the cafeteria at Shawnee Elementary School.  Important information concerning spring and summer activities will be discussed, and the summer calendar will be distributed.  Once again, the 2020 Xenia Women's Soccer Informational meeting has been scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, January 29th in the cafeteria at Shawnee Elementary School.

  • "Congratulations to the Xenia Girls Basketball team with their BIG TIME WIN over Fairborn last night!"The Varsity team was led by sharpshooter Brynna Mardis with 20 points and Reaghan Wakefield with 18 points! Kendall Sherman added 12 points, and Kamea Baker secured the win with a thrilling BUZZER BEATER!!!  Great job girls and way to get the dub! The ladies are back in action this Saturday as they look to continue their win streak by battling West Carrollton for a second time. The JV game is set to begin at 10:30am followed by the Varsity at 12:00pm. Good luck and GO BUCS!"

  • Attention GSA members and Elton John fans: There is a Gay-Straight Alliance meeting today, after school, in Mrs. Ohrman's room B233. I repeat, there is a GSA meeting after school today in B233. We will finish watching the new Elton John movie, Rocketman, and all are welcome to join us!
  • Today is a new day and a new semester is upon us. This also starts the perfect attendance exemption records for 2nd semester. The perfect attendance exemption for final exams will only count the 2nd semester, not the whole year. In other words, we will start the count NOW. Please make a note of this.
  • Congratulations to the Xenia Girls Basketball team with their victory last week vs Graham!" The Varsity team was led by Kelli Hatfield with 10 points, Brynna Mardis with 9 points and Alexis Claybaugh with 8 points! In addition, Reaghan Wakefield and Kamea Baker grabbed a combined 20 rebounds. Way to shoot and clean up on the glass! Great job girls! The ladies will be back in action tonight as they travel to Northwestern to take on the Warriors. The JV game is set to begin at 6:00pm followed by the Varsity at 7:30pm. Best of luck and GO BUCS!"
