  • We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for listening to the Black History Month: Where are they now announcements each day during the month of February. If you missed a graduate bio or would like to see pictures of the featured graduates, please check out the bulletin board in the cafeteria!   • Attention staff and students: The library will be closed today due to the Science Fair.
  • Today, yes TODAY, is the last day to donate any money toward the Leukemia and Lymphoma fundraiser! So don’t forget to drop off your money to your 5th period teacher TODAY! We are only $900 away from our goal, so every penny counts! The class that raises the most amount of money will win an Olive Garden lunch and second and third place classes will win an ice cream party. Here are the current top five classes: In 5th place we have Mr. Richey's class, 4th place is Mr. Richards class, 3rd place is Mr. Mikal's class, 2nd place is Mrs. Tate's class, and currently in first place is Mr. McComb's class. Donations will be accepted until the end of the day! All winner's will be announced on Monday!

  • Attention Girls Basketball players.... your End of the Season Award Ceremony will be this upcoming Thursday, March 5th at 6:30pm in the Cafeteria. Be sure to contact Coach Threats for further details and make sure you return all practice gear, game uniforms and travel suits at that time.

  • Congratulations XHS. Through your generosity we collected around 250 pairs of jeans. We are so excited to announce that we will extend Teens for Jeans for one more week. We are so close to earning a $5,000 grant!
  • Attention all GSA members: our next meeting is this coming Monday, the 2nd, after school, in Mrs. Ohrman's room, B233. I repeat, our next GSA meeting is this coming Monday, the 2nd, after school. This is an important meeting to attend because we will be creating a podcast for NPR's Student Podcast Challenge, so don't miss out! And as always all students are welcome to attend our GSA meetings!
  • Attention Student Council: Please make sure to join our google classroom and vote for our next t-shirt! If you need the code please see Mrs. Petraiuolo or another member of student council. Executive Board applications are due NEXT Friday March 6th!
  • Tomorrow is the last day to donate to Leukemia and Lymphoma make sure to drop off your money to your 5th period teacher and get Olive Garden for your class! Students will be around today and tomorrow to collect from your red boxes! Remember every little bit helps!

  • Did you miss the student council meeting this morning? Are you interested in joining Student Council Executive Board next year? Then you need to stop by Mrs. Petraiuolo's room during lunch!
  • Jada: Will what do you call a cold burrito? Will: I don't know, what? Jada: A burrrr-ito! Both: Laugh... Today is Student Council's Chipotle Fundraiser! Come in to the Chipotle in Xenia TODAY between 4:00pm and 8:00pm to help support Student Council! Grab a flyer outside Mrs. Petraiuolo's room, b112 or tell the cashier you’re supporting the XHS Student Council!
  • Are you always running late to school because you spend too much time getting ready? Well tomorrow is Pajama Day so no need to worry about getting ready! Roll out of bed and bring in a $1.00 to school! All proceeds go towards the leukemia and Lymphoma Society Fundraiser.
  • In 2019 it was estimated that there were 61,780 people diagnosed with Leukemia, and that there were 22,840 deaths due to Leukemia. Only 62.7% of people who are diagnosed with Leukemia are projected to survive five years or more. Treatment of Leukemia has come a long way and it is because of people like you. Student Council would like to thank those that have donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society fundraiser so far, but there are still three more days to donate! So check the bottom of your purse or your pockets and try to donate your change to your 5th period class, every little bit makes a big difference! A big shout out to Mrs. Miller's, Mr. McComb's and Mr. Richey's class who donated over $30 each yesterday, Awesome Job! For our class completion Mr. McComb's class is in first place, followed by Mrs. Tate's class, and then Mr. Mikal's class. Remember to bring in your change these last three days!

  • Would the student looking for the name of the book Mrs. Couser taught, stop by the library.
  • Only 4 more day's for our class collection for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society fundraiser! Students will be around today to collect in 5th period. Remember every penny goes to help someone who is suffering from these terrible blood cancers.
  • There is a student council meeting tomorrow. Yes you heard that correctly, there is a student council meeting tomorrow. It will be at 7 in the library. Please come join us for breakfast and a fun discussion on future events in student council!
  • Do you enjoy things like Spirit Week, or Homecoming? Are you looking forward to the Senior Picnic or to teacher appreciation week? Then Student Council needs your help! Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support XHS Student Council. Come in to the Chipotle in Xenia TOMORROW between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. Grab a flyer outside Mrs. Petraiuolo's room, b112 or tell the cashier you’re supporting the cause to make sure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to XHS Student Council. We need your help to keep these great events happening here at XHS!

  • Attention Gamer's Club members! This is just a reminder that all t-shirt orders are due by Tuesday, Feb. 25! Come see Mr. Keefe in B241 to get another order form. You can turn it in to me in B241 or bring it to the next meeting.
  • This is a reminder to all students who borrowed Chromebooks and or chargers to return them to the library before leaving today. Students who don't return chargers or Chromebooks before leaving may receive a lunchtime detention.

  • Thank you to all the classrooms that participated in the Black History Month Door Decorating Contest. Congratulations to Mrs. Simmons Class for the Best Original Door, Mr. Richey for his 3rd place door, Mrs. Atkinson for her 2nd place door, and drum roll please.... Congratulations to our overall winner, Mrs. Gerspacher and the Hidden Figure Door!
  • Olive Garden? Ice Cream? If either of these sound good to you then donate your extra cash or change to your 5th period teacher to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. The 5th period class that raises the most money will receive an Olive Garden lunch and the class that comes in 2nd place will receive an ice cream party! Students will be around today to collect!
  • Congratulations to the varsity boys bowling team as they advanced yesterday in OHSAA tournament play to next week’s district competition. The team put forth an outstanding late day charge to secure their final standing. . Members of the team are senior Zane Eneix. Juniors Dalton Hinders, Jordan Spiller, and Bryce Mellinger. Sophomore Aaron Adkins and freshman Ethan Williamson.

  • Did you know that last year Warner Middle School raised $5,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society? Xenia high school raised $3,500. The end of February is fast approaching, which means our leukemia and lymphoma society fundraiser is almost over and we are $1,816 short of our goal! Please help us reach our goal by bringing in any change to your 5th period teacher. Can we raise more than the Warner, maybe but we need everyone to help!

  • Congratulations to three Xenia students who received awards for the Ohio HOSA Midwest Regional Competition. Jessica Holland and Brooklyn Lewis received first place for Extemporaneous Writing and Health Career Photography and Maddie Holcomb received third place for the Extemporaneous Writing competition. Be sure to congratulate them today.
  • Just a quick update for the class challenge for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society fundraiser, Mrs. Tate's class is still in the lead. In second place we have Mr. McComb's class, and then a new contender in third place is Mr. Richards' class! Student Council will be around tomorrow to collect money in your 5th period class. Make sure to bring in your change!

2/18/20

  • Tryouts for any boy interested in playing baseball will begin on Monday, February 24th. Tryouts will begin at 4:30 and end at 6:30. You must have an updated physical and all paperwork completed on Final Forms to tryout. Tryouts will last through February 28th. Any questions, contact Coach Claus.
  • The Miami Valley league held his postseason bowling tournament Sunday at BeaverVu lanes. The boys’ team had their best effort of the season and we’re Crowned CHAMPIONS of the MVL Event. Sophomore Aaron Adkins was the winner of the event with a three game total of 763. Zane Eneix finished sixth on the day with a 647. On the girls’ side of the tournament, the Xenia squad finished third. Senior Caity Moody was crowned athlete of the year for having the highest average on the season in the entire league. Both squads will begin OHSAA tournament action this week. Good luck bowlers.
  • Cole Miles, Gavin Whitacre, Briawna Randall, Dana Dyer, Jaxen Lewis and Zach Curby please return loaner Chromebooks and chargers to the library at once.
  • Congratulations to district swim team competitors Will Miller, Colin Pham, Grant Smith, and Eli Caldwell for their outstanding swims at Miami University on Saturday.

    Colin Pham who was seeded 20th moved up a spot to place 19th in the Southwest Ohio region in the 100 fly with a time of 53.51.
    Will Miller also moved up a spot to finish 31st in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.21.

  • It’s Valentine's Day! And it’s the last call to your love a flower! Get them at your lunch today! They are only $2.00 and once we sell out they are gone! If you bought a flower already, they will be delivered today during 5th Period.
  • Only 9 more days left to donate for Leukemia Lymphoma fundraiser! Any change you can donate will help those receiving cancer treatments!

2/13/20

  • Did you know that Student Council is selling raffle tickets at lunch? Well they are, and they are only 50 cents! There are some great prizes including being able to pie Mr. Torrence, Mr. Binns, Mrs. Gagliano, Mr. Vanderglas, Ms. Amole, Mr. Jubara, and Mr. Moore at the pep rally tomorrow! We also have $15 gift card to Canes and Walmart! Come buy at lunch to buy one today!
  • Only two more weeks left in the Leukemia and Lymphoma fundraiser competition! Make sure to keep bringing in money to donate for a good cause. Don’t forget that the first place class wins an Olive Garden lunch and the second and third place classes win an ice cream party! Keep donating until the last day!
  • Tomorrow is our favorite day of spirit week, class color day! It's the day to show your Buccaneer pride! Seniors wear black, Juniors wear white, Sophomores wear blue, and freshman wear gray! Show your school pride for the pep rally tomorrow!!!
  • Student Council and HOSA have joined together to sell flowers for valentines day. Today is the last day to buy your boo4sugar a flower! We only have 68 available so make sure to get to lunch early and buy your friends, teachers, or significant other a flower at lunch TODAY!

  • We’re almost halfway done with our Leukemia and Lymphoma fundraiser! Make sure you’re still bringing in donations to your 5th period! Our current leader is Mrs. Tate's class ! Remember, the winner gets Olive Garden for lunch, so keep donating!
  • Spirit week continues tomorrow with throwback Thursday! Recreate your favorite outfit from middle school or elementary school. Or throw it back to a different decade!
  • Jada: What kind of flower should you never give on Valentine's Day? Will: I don't know, what kind of flower should you never give on Valentine's Day? Jada: Cauliflower! Jada and Will: Both laugh. Jada: But you know what flowers you should give? Beautiful carnations! Be sure to buy one or two during your lunch period for ONLY $2! There are only 86 left so don't wait! Tomorrow is the last day to buy for your loved one!

  • The Academic Team was back in action yesterday. They came home with four wins and a tie. Them crushing their opponents was almost as impressive as Brahmagupta inventing zero. Great work all and kudos to Garret for answering that one question.

  • Want to make your best friend, partner or crushes Valentines Day extra special? Buy them a beautiful Carnation for just $2.00 at your lunch. It will be delivered to them on Valentine’s Day by HOSA and Student Council. We only have 97 left so make sure to get yours before we run out!
  • Xenia High Schooooooooool whats popppppppin? I’ll tell you what’s poppin… we are supporting the leukemia and lymphoma society and fighting cancer! Bring in change to your fifth period class. Mr. McComb's class has taken first place, will they be able to hang on or will Mrs. Tate's class claw their way back? We'll see after collections today!

  • Sinclair Community College is having their Spring Affair Open House Monday Feb. 17th on the Dayton Campus in Building 12 from 9 am - 12:30 pm. Learn more about their 260+ exceptional certificate and degree programs, find out how to get involved on campus, Discover resources on campus and in the community that will help you succeed, and attend sessions on topics important to you such as financial aid and scholarships and more. Explore their state-of-the-art facilities by taking a campus tour. Students who RSVP and attend will be entered to win prizes at the event, including scholarships.

  • Flower sales are almost over,so don’t forget to buy your favorite people some very special flowers! They’re two dollars and will be sold during all lunches! We’re delivering on Valentine’s Day so don’t forget!
  • Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the Boys Soccer Team's Spaghetti Dinner Friday night. Special thanks goes out to our Cafeteria Manager Katie McKee and the XHS custodial staff. Without their support this wouldn't have been possible.
  • Hey everyone Spirit week is off to a great start! Tomorrow is Career day. Time to show everyone a career you would like to be!
  • Interested in playing lacrosse? There is still time to sign up to play. Come out and join the fastest growing sport in America on Xenia's First Varsity team. See Coach Bartley for information!
  • Attention Spanish Club members: Spanish Club is cancelled for today.
  • On Saturday, Xenia High School was represented by ten of our band students at the OMEA solo and ensemble event held at Stebbins High School. We are proud to report that all ten earned medals for SUPERIOR RATINGS. One also earned a second Superior MEDAL and two earned additional medals for EXCELLENT ratings. Here are the students honored: Alyssa Williamson Alyssa Hughes Ashlyn Anderson, who also earned an additional Superior medal Sidney Williams, who also earned a medal for an EXCELLENT rating Meagan Sprowls Faith Cornett Tyler French Jake Fox Jonathon Patterson, who also earned a medal for an EXCELLENT rating and Jacob Wynn, who earned a SUPERIOR in the highest solo category. Congratulations to these band members for making us PROUD! In addition to Mr. Johnson, Mr. McPeek, Mr. Sell, Mrs. Byerly (Mr. Johnson's student teacher), and Mrs. Ashley Hoffman (a teacher at Warner Middle School) helped these students prepare for this event.
  • Xenia Students tomorrow night is senior night for boys basketball and cheer, do you want to get in for just $1.00 all you have to do is help us tomorrow night as we sponsor  "Keep It Clean Night" at XHS all Xenia and Butler students will get in for just $1.00 as we promote positive sportsmanship during the game and help clean our student sections after the game! Students are asked to cheer on the Bucs, $1.00 tickets will be sold at all lunches by Mr. Kopp on Tuesday get your ticket early before we sell out, lets pack the gym for our seniors and be good sports about it!
  • This past weekend, the boys and girls swim teams competed in Sectional competition in Centerville. The girls placed 8th while the boys came in 7th overall. Congratulations to the following boys who are advancing on to District competition this Saturday at Miami University: Will Miller in the 100 breaststroke after placing 7th. Colin Pham got an automatic advancement in the 100 fly after placing 2nd. (Colin narrowly missed qualifying in the 100 backstroke after placing 5th.) The boys 200 free relay of Pham, Miller, Eli Caldwell, and Grant Smith after placing 3rd. Other great swims this past weekend include: Will Miller placing 9th in the 200IM, Grant Smith placing 6th in the 50 free and 11th in the 100 breast; Grace Smith who placed 8th in the 100 breaststroke and 16th in the 200IM, Anna Carlson who placed 15th in the 100 back. Congratulations to all on a great meet!

  • SENIORS please sign up for The City of Xenia Job Fair in the guidance office. The job fair will be Wednesday, March 18 from 12-1. Transportation will be provided to and from. Seniors that participate will be entered into a drawing for free prizes!!

2/06/20

  • Today is the special edition winter blood drive hosted by the Xenia HOSA chapter. Participating students will receive their passes, indicating their appointment time, in their first period class today. Students should go to the boys side locker room of the gymnasium to check in with the community blood center at their assigned time. Be sure to continue to drink plenty of water and snack throughout the day up until your appointment time. Thank you again for everyone who signed up to save a life!
  • Reminder that next week is Spirit week! Rep your favorite college or the college on your dreams on Monday!
  • Attention Xenia High School, the spirit week days have been decided. Monday Feb. 10, is College Day, Tuesday Feb. 11, is Career Day, Wednesday Feb. 12, is Class Day, Seniors are Senior citizens, Juniors are Jazzercize Juniors, Sophomores are Secret Agent Sophomores, and Freshman are Funky Freshman, Thursday Feb. 13 is Throwback Thursday and Friday is Class color day, Seniors wear black, Juniors wear white, Sophomores wear blue and Freshman wear Grey. Dress your best! We are so excited to see your school spirit!

  • The Greene County Farm Forum Scholarship is now available to any senior who is enrolled or planning to enroll in a field related to agriculture in college. The applications must be complete and mailed by Friday April 17th. The applications can be picked up in the Counselor's Office.
  • Sophomores, if you want to attend the Greene County Career Center next school year, NOW is the time to apply if you haven't already. The applications are online on the Career Center website.

Monday Feb. 10, is College Day, Tuesday Feb. 11, is Career Day, Wednesday Feb. 12, is Class Day, Seniors are Senior citizens, Juniors are Jazzercize Juniors, Sophomores are Secret Agent Sophomores, and Freshman are Funky Freshman, Thursday Feb. 13 is Throwback Thursday and Friday is Class color day, Seniors wear black, Juniors wear white, Sophomores wear blue and Freshman wear Grey. Dress your best! We are so excited to see your school spirit!

  • Come out and support the Boys Basketball team as they host Stebbins this Friday night at 7:30. And if you're hungry come early for the Boys Soccer Spaghetti Dinner from 5-7pm in the High School cafeteria. Tickets for the dinner are only $5 and can be bought from any boys soccer players or at the door.
  • Show people how much they really mean to you with some gorgeous flowers! HOSA and Student Council are teaming up to sell flowers at your lunch for only two dollars! Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to show someone how much you care!
  • Andrew Oney, Logan Younker, Aiden Keck, Alyssa Gregg and Jasen Lewis please return loaner chrombooks and/or chargers to the library as soon as possible.
  • IMPORTANT SCHEDULE CHANGE, due to the flu at Greenville there will be NO freshman game tonight. JV game will start at 6pm with the varsity to follow. There we be only 1 bus for JV and Varsity leaving from XHS at 4pm.  Freshman basketball players and cheerleaders will not travel tonight.

  • Attention all GSA members, we have a meeting TODAY, after school, in Mrs. Ohrman's room, B233. I repeat, there is a GSA meeting today in Mrs. Ohrman's room. We will be working on a creative project with posters and skits. Remember, we are always accepting new members and anyone interested is welcome to attend.
  • Karl Hoffman, Jayda Smith, Emma Foley and Nicole Andreasson please return loaner chargers to the library.
  • Hat day is this Wednesday! For 50 cents you can wear your favorite cap! All proceeds go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma fundraiser!
  • It's finally February and that means our Leukemia and Lymphoma fundraiser is in full swing! Remember to bring in any spare change to your 5th period class. The first place class will win an Olive Garden dinner and the runner up wins an ice cream party!
  • Who's ready to run, throw or jump? --   If you are ready then pick up a spring track and field informational packet in either Coach Binns, Coach Lynch or Coach Patterson's room. Season starts February 24th!
