Principal's Message

Dr. Henry "Hank" Jackoby

Welcome to Xenia High School! This is the place where I get to boast about our amazing students, incredible faculty, and our wonderful community!

Xenia is a dynamic community with which our high school is intimately intertwined. In turn, it is our goal to serve Xenia by providing a multitude of opportunities and experiences for students. Our first priorities are of course student safety and academic growth. We promote the Pillars for Success Xenia High School and expect the best from students academically. According to our nationally normed MAP assessments, students experienced over a year's worth of growth in nearly every academic subject. We are also making major gains on the Ohio State Tests (End of Course Exams) each year and preparing students for success after high school by stretching students at all levels. We offer many Advanced Placement classes, such as AP Calculus and AP US History along with a number of academic electives, such as ACT Preparation, Probability and Statistics. Our athletics, band, choir, and career technical, and technology-infused classes also provide opportunities to engage and develop well-rounded students. Thanks to the hard work of our Board of Education and Board Office personnel, all students are assigned their own Chromebook to use during the school day. This is a huge asset to our kids and teachers.

Please help your child make the most out of what we have to offer by making sure your child is at school every day possible and ready to learn. As the old quote goes, “it takes a village to raise a child.” Together, we are that village, so thank you in advance for your help. Should you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress, start by contacting his or her teacher, counselor, assistant principal or me if necessary. There is no problem we can't solve if we work together.

As always, our goal is that after four years at Xenia High School, students will have acquired the academic and citizenship skills that lead to outstanding college and career readiness. Please be alert to your child's End of Course graduation points, which we track as well. Also encourage your child to take academically challenging courses, make good decisions with what they do online, and get involved. Student Council, X-Stat, or Yellow Ribbon groups all strive to make this the best place it can be. Encourage them to strive to demonstrate the Pillars for Success - Responsibility, Integrity, and Respect everywhere they go. Students who are caught doing the right thing can receive Buc cards and enter drawings to win tickets to games and other exciting prizes throughout each quarter.

Finally, I want to thank you for being part of our school community, where you can support co-curriculars by attending events, belonging to a booster group, or give input to building decisions through our student, parent, and staff focus group. Should you have questions about any of these activities or other events, please contact us in the main office of Xenia High School. Again thank you and our Board of Education for supporting Xenia Community Schools and our programs. It is a pleasure to serve you and your child!
