  • This is a reminder that all library books are now overdue. Please return all books before leaving for the summer. The cost of library books not returned will be added to your school fees.
  • Any student that signed up for AP Government next year should have their summer work already. If you have signed up for AP Government but don't have your summer work, then you need to see Mr. Miller today!
  • Any student who is helping Mrs. Tate with graduation, please stop by her room (B213) at some point today.
  • Next year's AP US History students need to join the google classroom before leaving on summer vacation.  The summer assignment is in classroom.  You can find the class code in the letter previously delivered to you, or by stopping by Mr. Binns' class B130.

  • Today is the last day to attend Xenia High School Cheerleading Clinics. They begin at 3:30. Tryouts begin Thursday after school at 3:30 in the Gym.
  • There will be a Parent/Player HS Football meeting tonight at 6:30pm in the high school cafeteria for anybody planning on playing next year!

  • The sports medicine department at Xenia High School is excited to share in our knowledge with our high school students that are interested in the sports medicine field. As a student aide, you will learn basic taping and wound care techniques commonly used in the sports medicine profession. Students will also have an opportunity to observe the evaluation, rehabilitation and treatment of athletic injuries from our Certified Athletic Trainers, Team Physicians, and Wright State University Athletic Training Students. If you are interested in becoming an athletic training student aide please pick up an application in the athletic training room . Applications will be due by this Friday.
  • Any clothes or costumes left in Mrs. Gammie's room at the end of this week will be considered a donation to the costume closet, so come get your stuff out of her room!
  • Support the Xenia FFA Chapter. Eat at Rapid Fired Pizza on Tuesday May 28th or at Penn Station on Wednesday May 29th. You must present the flyer at checkout in order for us to earn credit, so stop by the bulletin board outside C121 to pick one up!   • Attention graduates, We will be deactivating your Google accounts at the end of June. Before then, if you would like to keep your data please visit your Class of 2019 Google Classroom or XHS website and click on the student tab to find the instructions on how to do this.There are two options. You can transfer all of your data to your own personal gmail account, or you can export and download all of your data. Either option works well. You will want to wait until the last day of school to do this, please make sure not to transfer your account to another personal account before school ends. If you need assistance, please see Mrs. Patterson. Congratulations on your upcoming graduation, and have a great summer!
  • This is a reminder that all library books are due today, May 20th. Underclassmen who may be attending the Good Behavior Picnic will not be permitted to attend if they have overdue library books (repeat please) Return all books to the library. Do it today.
  • Boys Basketball Open Gym Tuesday has been switched to 8:00-9:30. Repeat, please.
  • Seniors, all library books and calculators must be returned by the end of the day on Wednesday. Any items not returned will be added to your school fees and you will not walk at graduation until those fees are paid.

  • This past Saturday, May 11, 2019, Jessica Holland competed at the State Science Fair at Ohio State University. We are so excited to announce that she received a "Superior" rating! We are unbelievably proud of her. This is NOT easy to do, and she represented herself and Xenia schools very well. Please be sure to congratulate Jessica if you see her today. Way to go!
  • Attention students who have been issued an elevator key for current school year – if the issued key is not presently being used, please return your elevator key to the Main Office by Thursday, May 16, 2019 – to avoid a $5.00 replacement fee being assessed to your school fees.

Staff and students can buy a print of the senior panoramic for $15 by seeing Mrs. Daye in the fee office BEFORE THURSDAY at 2:00PM. We will place orders Thursday night. Once again: Senior Pano.   • As we end Teacher Appreciation week we would like to spotlight two more staff members here at Xenia High School! Our first spotlight is Ms. Carrie McGee. Carrie has been at Xenia for 22 years! Ms. McGee is a huge supporter of Xenia High School, she is always the first to volunteer for any task! She is one of the first here in the morning and the last to leave. We appreciate her dedication, drive, and commitment. Our second spotlight is Mrs. Sandra Hutchison. Mrs. Hutchison has been here at Xenia Community Schools for 11 years. Ms. Hutchison is a positive member of our school you can see her in the hallways with a smile on her face every day. We are so appreciative to these two! We wish that we could highlight every teacher and staff member at our school. We are so appreciative for EVERYONE! Thank you!

  • Student Council is excited to announce our 4 spotlight staff members of today as we continue Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week. Our first winner is Mr. Binns. Mr. Binns is described by his colleges and intelligent, funny, and caring. Mr. Binns is a caring teacher who we are so happy to have here at Xenia High School. Our second winner is Ms. Lisa Howard is an aide in Mrs. Whitaker's class. She is described by her colleagues as super nice, cheery and very helpful. She is dedicated to our school and we appreciate her so much. Our third winner of the day is Officer Dean Margiorias. Officer Margiorias is always available to help and is described by his colleagues and genuine, caring, and hard working. We appreciate Officer Margiorias's help in keeping us safe and secure at Xenia High School! Our last winner of the day is Mr. Jacob Wuebben. Mr. Wuebben is a first year teacher here at Xenia but has taught five years previously. Mr. Wuebben is described by his colleagues as always willing to lend a hand, caring, and a hard worker. We are so thankful to have him at our school! Don't forget as Teacher Appreciation Week winds down to thank your teachers and staff members for their tireless work at Xenia High School!   • Happy Teacher Appreciation Week Xenia High School! Student Council is excited to highlight a few of our staff members! Today we have selected two people and they will receive a special gift from Student Council. Our first winner is Ms. Judie Spitz, Ms. Spitz has been here at the high school for 5 years but here in our district for 21 years! She does a huge amount of work everyday to make our school successful and she does it all with a smile. She is described by her coworkers as selfless and an amazing asset to our building. She is full of knowledge and is always willing to lead a helping hand. Thank you Ms. Spitz for being amazing! Our second winner of the day is Mrs. Kay Gerspacher. Mrs. Gerspacher has been our amazing librarian for 25 years in addition to being a librarian for Centerville libraries as well. She is described by her colleagues as having a warm heart and being the hardest worker. She welcomes all students into the library and helps them with all of their needs. Thank you to these two special ladies, we would be lost without them.

  • Today the Junior Class will be participating in a special “Mock Accident Program” the main focus of which is the devastating effects of driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol or a distraction. As one part of this program, throughout the school day, you may encounter actors that we have designated as “the walking dead”. These student actors symbolize the heartbreaking reality that so many lives are taken by drunk drivers each year, leaving these innocent victims voiceless. We ask that you honor their important role in this activity by noticing them but please do not interact with them. We thank you for honoring the importance of their role in this program. Thank you.

  • Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Track team with their dominate win over Bellbrook last night in the Old Milk Jug Rivalry. Final team scores Xenia 157 Bellbrook 93. The Bucs next compete tomorrow at Fairborn and Thursday and Friday at Wayne.

Donors should be sure to eat a large breakfast on the morning of the blood drive and drink plenty of water up to the time of their appointment to ensure they have a positive experience donating blood.   • FYI that if you have an interest in an Agriculture elective. Proper new Ag courses to select from are on the website and will be mailed to all students. They are also on Google Classroom. Again that change is from Ag Systems to Plant and animal Science. Again the electives to choose from are Mechanical principals, where you get to work with tools and Plant and Animal Science, not Ag Systems. 
  • Wondering how to fill out your schedule for next year? Take French! France is one of the top trading partners for the United States! French is an official language of NATO, the Olympics, UNESCO, and the Red Cross. French is an official language to 33 different countries and is spoken in 45 countries! If you want to travel, it is useful in more places than just France! If you want to travel in West Africa, French is the language to learn! In your lifetime it is projected that there will be over 700 million people that speak French! France has had major influences in architecture, film, fashion, music, food and art. It is a fun and useful language. You already know 20,000 French words without being aware of it. Give French a try!

  • Nine Honor Spectra students competed at the District Science Fair on Saturday, March 23. Allison Bogan, Emily Calhoun, Ally Vandergriff, Brylee Dixon, Garret Shaw, Alaigha Gore, Haley McManus, and Jacob Martin all received "Excellent" ratings. Jessica Holland received a "Superior" rating at Districts, qualifying her to compete at the State Science Fair. Please congratulate these students as you see them today. They all did an amazing job representing the Xenia Bucs!

  • Congratulations to Junior Caity Moody on qualifying for the state Bowling tournament after shooting a 616 series in the district tournament. The girls’ team score of 3800 fell 19 pins short of qualifying for the state finals event. Kailee Palecek ended her outstanding 4 year varsity career by shooting a 3game series of 595. Senior Gillian MIller shot 451 on the day and was a major contributor to the GWOC South Championship effort. Sophomore Gracie Howell had a solid 520 series on the day. Congratulations Lady Bucs on an outstanding season.

  • This is the final week that we are raising money for Leukemia and Lymphoma. Make sure to show your support by bringing in any loose change items and place them in your 5th period donation box. 1st place will receive an Olive Garden lunch. 2nd and 3rd place will receive an Ice Cream party. We want to reach our goal of $3500 by the end of the week, so bring those donations in!

  • Happy National FFA Week! Today's agriculture fact of the day is - The Xenia FFA chapter has 132 members that have earned the State FFA Degree, the highest award given by Ohio FFA. Less than 2% of FFA members earn this award!

  • Thank you to all the students, teachers, and staff that supported FFA week this week. Through our Pie-In-The-Eye event at lunchtime, we were able to raise $32 for Nationwide Children's Hospital. We want to send a huge thank you to all the teachers and staff that volunteered to take a pie for charity...Especially Mr. Keefe, Mr. Bachman, and Dr. Jackoby who actually took a pie in the eye.   • On Tuesday, Feb. 19, Xenia HOSA students competed at the Midwest Ohio Regional Competition. All of the students who participated, made a strong showing, but four placed for a chance to compete at the State level in April. These students are Jessica Holland who received 1st place for extemporaneous writing, Leah Bruggeman who received 1st place for biomedical laboratory science, Grace Turner who received 2nd place for extemporaneous health poster and Saphron Cummins who received 3rd place for the biomedical laboratory science competition. Please congratulate these students.

  • Samari Curtis moved into the top 50 all time scoring list in the state of Ohio last night by scoring 42 points in an 86-72 win over West Carrollton. Samari also eclipsed the 2,000 point mark for his career in the win. Congratulations Samari.    Noah Crawford scored 16, and Dylan Hoosier 14 for the Buccaneers. Come out Friday for Senior night as the Bucs host Fairborn in our last regular season contest.

So if you want everyone to adore how cute you were as a baby, submit your baby pictures by the end of the month, February 28th, in order for them to be placed in the yearbook! And better yet, there is NOW NO FEE to submit this year! Bring your pictures to Mr. Frank in room C119 or email them.   • Varsity boys bowling team captured the GWOC South title on Monday by defeating Fairborn by a score of 2419 -2095 Great Boys scores were turned in by James McDaniel with a 221.

    Aaron ADKINS with games of 202-276 for a 478 series and Zane Eneix had a game of 212. The Buc boys finished the regular season with a 12-5 record.

  • The varsity girls Bowling team captured a share of the GWOC South title by defeating Fairborn by a score of 2205 to 1845. The girls dominated the match led by Caity Moody with a game of 204. Gracie Howell posted an outstanding score of 220. Senior Kailee Palecek had games 259 -195 for a total of 454 in her last regular season match of an outstanding 4 year varsity career. The girls pushed their season record to 14-3.
  • Attention all love birds! Yellow Spring High School is hosting a "Love is Love" dance this Saturday, the 16th. The dance is FREE, free admission, free pizza, and free refreshments. The dance is being held at the Bryan Community Center, 100 Dayton Street, Yellow Springs, Ohio. It goes from 7 pm until 10 pm. All are welcome to attend!

  • This past weekend the Ohio Music Education Association hosted the annual solo & ensemble event at Stebbins High School. XHS was represented by 5 soloists and 2 ensembles. Faith Cornett, Jacob Wynn, and Sidney Williams each earned SUPERIOR ratings on their solos. Liam Rose and Katie Holmes played EXCELLENT solos. The two instrumental ensembles were also rated EXCELLENT: These consisted of the Trumpet Trio (Madison Arthur, Jacob Fox, and Jonathon Patterson) and The Mixed Woodwind Trio (Sidney Williams, Meagan Sprowls, and Alyssa Williamson). Congratulations to all of these students for making us very proud!

  • Thank you to all of HTMLthe students and staff who signed up to donate blood at Xenia High Schools Annual Fall Blood Drive. Students will receive a pass during first period today, with the assigned appointment time they are to report to the blood drive. Please leave class with only a few minutes to get to the blood drive. Enter on the side of the gym closest to the front office and present your pass to the students at the reception table outside of the gymnasium. Please be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to allow for your donation to occur without difficulty.

  • The boys bowling team defeated Sidney by a score of 2381-2266 and improve their record to two and one on the season. Freshman Aaron ADKINS led the charge with games of 275 and 214. Junior Zane Eneix had an excellent day with games of 204 and 202 and the team had an excellent baker game of 232 to put the match out of reach. In the girls match they pushed their record to 3-0 by defeating Sidney by a score of 2083-1404. Senior Kailee Palecek led the way with scores of193 and 203. Senior Gillian Miller had a high game of 194. The team had a baker game score of 223. Both teams are next in action against state power Troy at 4 o’clock on Tuesday at BeaverVu Lanes. Plenty of good seats are still available.

  • This Friday is the Fall Blood Drive, Hosted by Xenia HOSA Chapter, and we do not have enough people signed up. We need 85 pints of blood to meet our goal and we only have 60 students and staff signed up. Because of this, we will extend the due date for blood drive permission slips until Wednesday, December 12th. If you are 16 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds, you too can make a difference and save a life. Students who sign up to donate, will receive a free t-shirt and food and drinks. If you sign up to donate three or more times, you will receive a red cord upon graduation. Please help us meet our goal and sign up to donate today!

  • NHS will start our fight the frost service project. This will run from December 10th- December 20th. We are looking for donations of new hats, scarves, and gloves. Please drop off donations to your 5th period class.

  • The fall blood drive, hosted by Xenia HOSA chapter, is in just two weeks on Friday, December 14th. The community blood center counts on us, Xenia High School, to provide them with much needed blood during the holidays when many people are unable to donate but demand remains high. Important Message for the Class of 2019 – Jostens will be at XHS for its “FINAL” in school grade order day on Wednesday, December 5 during all lunches.  If you have ‘NOT” turned in your graduation order for your cap and gown, it is very important that you turn in your order next Wednesday, December 5 during lunch.

  • ALL STUDENTS – Jostens will be a school on Wednesday, December 5 to deliver your class rings.  Remember to bring your balance due on Delivery day if a balance is due.  On delivery day, final payment can be made by cash, money order, or certified cashier’s check.     AGAIN – Jostens class ring delivery is Wednesday, December 5 during lunch.

  • This year, HOSA will be hosting a Christmas Movie Night for people of all ages in the Xenia High School Auditorium in honor of the National Pedicatric Cancer Foundation. We will be showing Frosty the Snowman and The Polar Express on Friday Dec. 14th starting at 6pm. Tickets are $2 at the door and refreshments will be sold on site. Please join us in your pajamas, your favorite stuffed animal, and a blanket to spread the holiday cheer and contribute to a worthy cause.

  • Due to popular demand, registration for the Bowman Kickball Tournament has been extended!! Sign up by TUES at lunch to still purchase a t-shirt. The date of the kickball game has been moved to Dec. 5th so more people can play and help!

  • We are very proud of Jacob Wynn, Amanda Tolle, and Alan Fig, who represented Xenia High School as members of the High School Honor Band at Bowling Green State University on November 15-17, the weekend before Thanksgiving.  Alan and Amanda did very well in a very competitive field of saxophone players. Jacob earned first chair trombone in the most competitive of the three bands. Congratulations and thank you for making us proud.

  • VETERANS DAY ANNOUNCEMENT

Yesterday was Veterans Day and also the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI.  Veterans Day is the day we remember the service of all those in the US armed services.   Veterans Day was first called Armistice Day and celebrated the end of the “Great War” the “War to End All Wars” that we now call WWI.

When a woman or man joins the armed services in the US, be it war time or not, they make a sacrifice to protect all of us and our freedoms.  Please recognize the gift that Veterans give to us by telling them thank you.If you have Veteran in your life like your parents, aunts and uncles, grandparents, or brothers and sisters make sure they know you appreciate their dedication.  When you encounter a Veteran it is appropriate to say “Thank you for your service.”Next time you see a man or woman in a Veteran cap or in their car with a Veteran’s bumper sticker,pay it forward by buying their Coca Cola.

Please remember Veterans on this 100th anniversary of the end of WWI and every day of the year.

  • Next Tuesday is Tuenesday, also known as music day! This is one of our many fundraisers for Baskets for Battle. You can participate by paying $1 to listen to music on your phone in the hallways. Keep in mind that it is up to your teacher if you can listen to music in class.

  • It is officially the start of November, which means that it is the start of Baskets for Battle! Baskets for Battle is a student council project where we give out bags to cancer patients in local hospitals. In order to create these bags, we need your help! You can help out by giving items like lotion, hard candy, new gloves, hats, and scarves, coloring books, toys and money. These items can be placed in tubs that are located in Ms. Dunteman's room B112, Ms. Rose's room B125, and the main office. You can also help out by participating in fundraisers throughout the month of November. Stay tuned to hear about these fundraisers throughout the month!

After a week it will open up to any junior who is interested in attending based on availability.

    Varsity won in 5 sets for SENIOR NIGHT and was led by Heidi Alex with 13 kills, 6 aces, 9 digs, 2 assists, and a solo block! Jada McAvene had 7 kills, an ace and 3 digs while Skylar Throop, Bailey Oliver, and Grace Brown combined for another 27 digs. Haley McManus and Claire Moore combined for 20 assists. Great Team win!   • The You Can Count on Me scholarship program is now available to seniors have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, no disciplinary issues, and are going on to a post-secondary education or training program in the fall of 2018. The application is online at www.YouCanCountOnMe.org. Three recommendations are required. The deadline for this application is Dec. 31.

  • Applications are open for the ACT Student Champion Award. The ACT Student Champion Award recognizes one student in each state who is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and plan in place. ACT Student Champions receive a 4%00 non-renewable scholarship, certificate and state-level recognition. The criteria to apply is seniors who have overcome challenges and can articulate their education and/or career actions and at a minimum composite ACT score of 22 on a single test date. Applications are due October 31.

  • The Xenia Lady Bucs Tennis team all returned from GWOC with a medal from their matches yesterday! At 1st Singles Senior Alexis McClelland earned 2nd place for a silver medal. Senior Jaedan Thomas came in 4th at 2nd singles and sophomore Autumn McCray also earned a 4th place medal at 3rd singles. At 1st Doubles, Juniors Ally Baker and Anna Carlson earned a bronze medal for 3rd place. Our 2nd doubles team of Freshman Leah Pagett and Junior Allison Shaw played a long match into the dark and earned a 4th place medal.  The ladies will be at their home courts this evening for their last home match against the lady Skyhawks of Fairborn. The top three for the boys were Trevor Orchard, Cobi Haverfield and Will Robinson.

  • Butler HS is located on Dixie Dr in Vandalia, at approximately 8pm on Friday night Dixie Dr. south of the high school will be closed for construction, when our fans and buses leave they will need to turn right out of Butler HS heading north, they will turn right on St Rt 40/ National Road, this will take them to 75 southbound.  Please let our parents and drivers know. I will also put this information out on the athletics facebook page starting Thursday.

  • The United States Military Academy is hosting an informational meeting, in conjunction with ROTC and the Ohio National Guard at the Woodlawn Armory in Cincinnati on Tuesday, September 25th, 6 to 8 PM. There will be representatives available for admissions information and to answer any questions that interested students and their parents may have.

  • University of Dayton will be giving a presentation on Tuesday, September 25 in room C105 during 2nd period. Any senior that is interested must sign up in the Guidance Office .

  • Cleveland State University will be in the Cafeteria today during lunch. Any student wanting information should stop by their table.

  • Yesterday afternoon the Xenia Lady Bucs Tennis Team hosted the Lady Yellow Jackets of Sidney. There were several long matches, but our victories came from our JV singles players. At 1st Singles, Freshman Cayce Jones defeated her opponent in a proset score of 8-4 and at 3rd Singles, Senior Leah Bruggeman gave up no games to win 8-0.  The ladies will be traveling away to West Carrollton this afternoon and to Stebbins on Wednesday. Our last home match will be Senior night on Monday, Sept. 24 against the Lady Skyhawks of Fairborn. Please come out to celebrate our seniors' final match at home and cheer them on to victory!

  • Cincinnati is hosting a National College Fair Sunday, Sept. 23rd from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at Duke Energy Center.

  • Ohio University Undergraduate Admissions will host their annual Multicultural Visit Program October 28-29, 2018 for selected high school seniors. Students who attend should have a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and a 21 ACT composite score. Students can visit www.ohio.edu/mvp to complete the online program application form. Registration is limited to 200 students who meet program selection criteria. Interested students should submit the program application form and request that transcripts and scores be sent to OHIO University by October 1, 2018.

  • Although the Lady Bucs Varsity Tennis Team fought hard in their matches, it was the Lady Bucs JV Tennis Team that brought home the victory yesterday afternoon against the Greeneview Rams. At 1st Singles Freshman Cayce Jones led the match 4-3 when her opponent had to withdraw giving Cayce the win. At 2nd Singles Junior Skylar Booher easily won her match with a proset score of 8-3. Senior Leah Bruggeman at 3rd singles defeated her opponent 8-4 and the 2nd Doubles team of Junior Cassidy Coonrod and Senior Kylie Stephens won their match 8-5.
    The Lady Bucs will be back on our home courts at the fairgrounds this afternoon hosting Trotwood- Madison. Come cheer them on to victory!

  • The Xenia Lady Bucs Tennis Team won their match over Stivers in a clean sweep Tuesday afternoon on their home courts at the Fairgrounds Recreation Center. Senior Alexis McClelland won her match at 1st singles in straight sets 6-1, 6-0. At 2nd Singles, Senior Jaedan Thomas won 6-2, 6-3 and at 3rd Singles, Sophomore Autumn McCray won 6-2, 6-1. The 1st Doubles Team of Juniors Ally Baker and Anna Carlson won their match 6-3, 6-0 and Freshman Leah Pagett and Junior Allison Shaw won their 2nd Doubles match in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.This was a great start to the tennis week on our home courts! Come out to the Fairgrounds to cheer on our Lady Bucs as they face Greenview on Wednesday afternoon and Trotwood-Madison on Thursday. Matches begin at 4:30 pm.

  • Attention all perspective baseball players. Open field will begin Wednesday, September 5th, from 2:30-4:30. If you plan on playing baseball this spring, and do not participate in a fall sport, you should attend. Open field will take place every Monday and Wednesday beginning September 5th through October.     The ladies will travel away to Wayne on Monday, but will have three home matches on Tues, Wed and Thursday. Come on over to our newly resurfaced courts and watch our ladies in action at the Fairgrounds.

  • Congratulations to the Xenia Varsity and JV white volleyball teams last night on capturing their first win of the season. The Lady Bucs defeated Wilmington! Varsity was led by Heidi Alex with 10 kills, 3 stuff blocks, and 9 digs! Tristin Conner added 9 kills and 18 digs. Also Grace Brown dug up 18 balls as well as Skylar Throop dished out 12 assists and had 6 digs.The volleyball teams return to action TONIGHT as all 3 teams take on their first conference opponent, Stebbins. Be sure to root us on and GO BUCS!
