Mrs. Cheryl D. Marcus is a champion for public education and advocate for the advancement of research and knowledge in the area of student success. During her 20 plus years of service at Central State University, she held several positions including coordinating a school-college partnership program, directing a high school to college transition program, directing a federal grant worth more than $2 million dollars annually, serving as the executive assistant to the president, serving as interim dean of CSU Dayton, and was the campus liaison for creating and coordinating articulation and transfer agreements with community colleges.

Prior to her return to the Board of Education for Xenia Community Schools in 2014, Cheryl Marcus previously served eight years on the school board from 1994 through 2001. Re-elected in November 2017, she is serving her second, four-year term which expires December 2021.  A dedicated Board member who consistently serves on several district committees, she received the Ohio School Board Association Award of Achievement in 2016 and was inducted into the Greene County Women’s Hall of Fame in 2017. She earned an Ed.S. degree in educational leadership from the University of Dayton and completed the 2005 Management Development Program sponsored by Harvard University.

Cheryl D. Marcus is married to Robert L. Marcus and they have five adult children, all who attended and graduated from Xenia Schools. They are Diane, Tulani, Aiyana, Robert, and Nehemiah.
