Student's Holocaust Projects

Student's Holocaust Projects
Mrs. Greenberg's ninth grade Honors English class at Warner Middle School studied the holocaust. Students in this class are high achieving eighth grade students who have accelerated into a high school class while in middle school.
In their studies, students read nonfiction articles about facts and history of the holocaust. Then they read the novel "Berlin Boxing Club" about a Jewish boy who escaped from Germany. They also read "The Diary of Anne Frank" and completed several projects based on what they learned from the book.
Holocaust survivor Dr. Aleksandar Svager came into their class to speak to them about his experiences, and they wrote a narrative piece based on meeting him. The class presented Dr. Svager with their work last week. Dr. Svager is a retired physics professor from Central State University. He lives in Xenia.
Students also kept Reflection Journals and created artwork in response to reading about Anne Frank. Additionally, they chose a color, a symbol, and an image that represented their thoughts and feelings about Anne.
